Guest guest
<<<<And, has anybody here had any experience with depression and WLS? I'm permanently disabled with bipolar I, and I've read a lot of conflicting info. Some papers say they won't do it if you have depression, others say the surgery should improve depression. ?? I'm of the opinion that getting thinner would help my depression IMMENSELY.LOL>>>> Actually, most doctors would want to do a psych eval on you to make sure you are stable before surgery. If you can't comply with the surgeon's protocol you will fail at surgery. Moreso, you will experience INCREDIBLE EMOTIONAL CHANGES AS A POST OP from body image to emotions to friendships, men, and the way the world treats you. If your emotional condition is too erratic to deal with the emotional and mental alteration of your belief systems and lifestyle, the surgeon may differ your surgery. In many cases surgery can alleivate surgery by reducing the detrimental psycho-social issues of obesity. Robyn
