Guest guest
Thanks ! (((HUGS))) right back at ya!! I went to the meeting last night at Newton Wellesley Hospital's Obesity Center. I could NOT believe how PACKED the room was!! (And I'm not poking fun at our collective sizes! LOL) But there had to have been 100 people there! I was shocked to say the least. But, I wanted to get the most out of the meeting so I sat in the center seat of the front row (what a suck-up, huh?!) and the info the dr was discussing was truly scary (re: statistics of obesity rates amongst Americans and the dire health risks obesity causes) and also very hopeful and uplifting (post surgical improvements), so I am READY to move ahead and get on with my life. I came () this close to having it done 2 years ago, but something about the program (not the same one I'm in now) didn't strike me right and I opted not to go ahead. I've been doing TONS more research on it now and I've been able to speak fairly intelligently to people about it who've been shocked to hear I want to proceed with this. (Actually I haven't told my parents yet - not sure how they'll react...) (OK, drum roll please...)For the first time EVER I actually believe that I will be thin again. (I should say that as a mantra for the next few months til I have the surgery, huh?!) Not that I was ever really " thin " as a kid-- at least I never thought of myself as thin -- just " normal " . Strangely enough it's been so long since I was " normal " , my husband doesn't even know me as a " normal " weight person - of course he's seen photos of me, but I've been heavy since before we met (OK, so I got extra-heavy AFTER we met!) so I think this'll come as a bit of a shock to him. One thing they touched on last night was how you may lose some friends (!!huh?? yikes!!) or that family members or friends may not act the same way towards you after your weight loss. Is this true? Have any of you experienced this? I find that very strange... Thanks to everyone for their awesome support!
