Guest guest
My daughter was 5 yesterday and was born with very severe tort and moderate Plagio. She was a Doc grad and wore the helmet from 12 to 18 mths. She is resolved from tort since 18 mths but her face is not symetrical so her eye is a little tilted. Its not noticable to others but I see it. She never had one delay and even walked with severe tort at 11mths. She is even advanced in some motor skills and swims great and rides a bike without training wheels. She had major dental issues as she gets her second teeth as her bite is a cross bite. I was told by the dentist they wont know how bad its going to be until she gets her permanent teeth. Lorraine Mackenzies mom. Guest guest
Hello! Below I have posted a link to the " Older Plagio " group, there are more members there with older plagio children. Some treated, some not. My son is 26 months with mild plagio, even after being banded, and I have not noticed any delays. Guest guest
My daughter is 9 1/2 months old - severe plagio/(L) tort. Just received local PPO helmet and is in physical therapy for gross motor delays. I was interested in a relationship with plagio and gross motor delays - asked plastic surgeon and he had an interesting take on the subject. They seem to have an inverse relationship - many children with pre-existing gross motor delays develope plagio due to lack of normal movement - seems reasonable. I think this is true in my daughter's case. - mom to Sydney (PPO helmet 5-10-04 St. Louis) --- In Plagiocephaly , " tufferraew " <tufferraew@y...> wrote: > My son is five and has had plagio since birth. Guest guest
Hi Raewyn: I also suggest you visit the older plagio group that Natasha linked you to. My plagio daughter is nost 4 yrs 2 mos of age and is speech delayed. She's been going to a speech therapist thru our school district for about 9 mos now and has made good progress, although, still has a ways to go to be where she " should be " speech wise. Other than that, she is on track everywhere else as far as I can see. Was your son treated with a band or helmet for his plagio? I hope he too catches up soon, I understand how frustrating it can be somedays. Best of luck. Debbie Abby's mom 3/1/00 DOCGrad 2/16/01-6/22/01 MI > > > My son is five and has had plagio since birth.
