Guest guest
Actually your results are showing that they are worse, not better.....you want to get your Free T3 in the upper range so closer to 4.2 and it has dropped....and the Free T4 (from what I read on this list) should be more in the mid to upper range, and again yours has dropped.....not a good thing....have you lowered your dose or what???.....the only thyroid test that you would want to see " drop " to be normal would be a TSH which is better the lower it gets...other ones should be high........sue in TN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > > Here's my new test results for the Free T4 and Free T3 > These were taken 2/6/04 > > T4 Free 0.6 range 0.5 - 1.6 > > T3 Free 2.8 range 2.3 - 4/2 > > > Two months ago (12-2-03) they were > > T4 Free 0.99 range 0.61 - 1.76 > > T3 Free 3.0 range 2.3 - 4.2 > > > I am assuming this is very good results to drop in such a > short time.right? > Any comments on these results? Guest guest
Hi . Your fT3 could stand to be a LOT higher. Also, did you do this test before you had taken Armour, or after? My fT3 was 5 a few weeks ago, after I had taken Armour. And you almost have to get it that high (at least towards the top of the range) to rid yourself of all symptoms. Guest guest
Sue, After I posted my messge I got to thinking about my test results. Had this funny feeling I was looking at it wrong and I was. Thanks for your comments. Yes I slowed down on the Armour cause I starting getting panic attacks and nervenes after a short time on 90 mg armour. Now I know to start working at upping things once again but slowly. thanks
Guest guest
Janie, I try to do all my blood work before food and medicine. The doctor even said I was doing better, now why would she be saying that? I still have more energy than I did before I started armour. thanks
Guest guest
, you need to be on adrenal support. Janie > > After I posted my messge I got to thinking about my test > results. Guest guest
Because she's like most docs when it comes to thyroid--ignorant. Sigh. Guest guest
You are more under medicated than you were before. You want those numbers to go up not down. Test results Here's my new test results for the Free T4 and Free T3 These were taken 2/6/04 T4 Free 0.6 range 0.5 - 1.6 T3 Free 2.8 range 2.3 - 4/2 Two months ago (12-2-03) they were T4 Free 0.99 range 0.61 - 1.76 T3 Free 3.0 range 2.3 - 4.2 I am assuming this is very good results to drop in such a short time.right? Any comments on these results? Want to hear what you think about this. I feel good about todays results. thanks for any comments. I realize these test were taken in two different labs so for me its hard to know if I improved on the Free T4 or not.
Guest guest
Well, two weeks ago, when the doc increased my synthroid, night sweats almost went away. I didn't notice about hot flashes during the day until Monday and then I had taken four Isocort in the morning. I forgot the Isocort at noon, took it again Tuesday morning then saw the doc. On the way into town, I had one hot flash and it suddenly dawned on me that they had been rather scarce lately. Anyway, the doc agreeed to put me on the Armour (60mg) and asked me not to do the isocort for a while until we see what the Armour does. Night sweats and hot flashes are returning; have gotten worse each day. So I think the thyroid meds had helped and maybe the isocort also. It makes sense that if the thyroid hormones are not there, that the adrenals have to work harder and that they are working on stuff more important than the sex hormones so that goes lacking. Seems like I read that somewhere. BTW I've had a complete hysterectomy so the only sex hormones I get are what little my adrenals can produce. Re: Test results Hi . Guest guest
Janie, I am on adrenal support, taking(2 in mornings) Raw Adrenal II and Isocort(2 in morning and 2 about noon) Doctor also said to slow down on the raw adrenal II, just to take one in the morning since that probable is whats causing me to have anixity. So I guess I should keep taking the isocort but maybe get couple more in during the day and to stop before 3pm. Even tho my test results wasnt as good as I thought I am feeling better than before taking the Armour. thanks for your help
Guest guest
HI Debbie, When I had hot flashes and night sweats, my nutritionist put me on natural progesterone..it worked wonderfully. I used the brand (don't laugh) Happy PMS. You can get it at health food stores....it comes with strict intstructions on how to use, how much to use etc. HugsPatti Sue Re: Test results Hi . Guest guest
Thanks Pattie Sue. About a year ago, nutritional therapist put me on progesterone cream plus some other stuff. I had been having hot flashes every hour and they'd wake me up in the night. After working with her for nearly a year, I was only worse...about twice as bad. So I gave up on her. All the stuff was costing an arm and a leg anyway. I quit all her stuff and just started taking Remifemin (available otc at Walmart, Sams, etc). I am actually doing much better. Night sweats and hot flashes (maybe half a dozen each day) just started since late last fall when my hypo symptoms started increasing. Guest guest
Thanks, . It's very uncomfortable right now, but bearable. I think I'll just get this thyroid straightened out then if all is not well in that area, I'll check out that link. My feeble mind can only handle so much at a time. I have set up my group only for the reason that women have somewhere to go to ask hormonally related questions and to post places where we can get (cheap) OTC progesteone and estriol, etc...that kind of thing...we're not a terribly active group and only come together to answer questions for each other...there's no harm in joining and going no mail or joining just long enough to ask a question and get some answers...just wanted to let everyone know....Gentle, I think it would be a good thing to post what you can tell us about IC on my group, because I believe there is at least on woman in that group with this problem and who has no good answers yet. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WmnsHormones
Guest guest
Debbie, You might want to check the box of Remifemin. I wil bet it has a warning to not take it if you have a thyroid problem. I think it's main ingredient is soy. That could be why your hypo symptoms are returning. Louise > Thanks Pattie Sue. Guest guest
Yikes Louise! Gave me a bit of a fright for a minute there. No soy in it, but here's the lowdown in case there might be something else I haven't thought of : Main Ingredient: Black Cohosh Extract (Root and Rhizome) equivalent to 20mg Other Ingredients: lactose, cellulose, potato starch, magnesium sterate and natural peppermint flavor. Contains no salt, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy coloring or preservatives. It only says not to use if pregnant or nursing. Thanks for your concern and input. Blessings, Debbie Re: Test results Debbie, You might want to check the box of Remifemin. I wil bet it has a warning to not take it if you have a thyroid problem. I think it's main ingredient is soy.
