Guest guest
Several times people have mentioned that during the evaluation they assess the patient's support network. Does that mean if you don't have family close to support you, they may turn you down? What kind of support system are they looking for? Is having family out of state, and willing to help acceptable? Do you have to be in a certain stage to be accepted for liver transplant, or is it based on symptoms? Hi Janie, I have often wondered that, as I live alone, surely they wouldn't refuse you a transplant? Maybe if they know your circumstances they can supply extra help for you. I believe I read somewhere that some hospitals have a 'mentor' volunteer system so that those who have been through the process can support a patient who is on their own. I've no idea about how things are in UK, however. Barbara (UK)
