I've learned a lot about patience. 'Only 74kgs' over 3.5 years... some people might lose it faster, but when you think that 74kgs is a 'normal' person, it's an amazing achievement no matter how long it took. You must be feeling so much better ! Good luck with the next 20. Story time... A couple of days ago, my husband and I were having to move some furniture around our lounge room. He was struggling with something and asked me if I could move a speaker out of the way, quickly. I dashed in there with the best of intentions, grabbed the speaker, gave a mighty heave, and barely moved it ! I asked how much it weighed, and he casually said " 72kgs " . That gave us both reason to pause. (they're very big speakers, by the way - came in kit form, so he knows every dimension Anyway, I couldn't budge the bloody thing, yet I carry more that that in excess weight every day ! No wonder I'm always tired and have sore feet ! I can't wait til I can point at that speaker and say " That's how much weight I've lost - see if you can lift it " cheers, Leanne
Guest guest
Hi Leanne, Thanks - Yes people often pull me up when I'm feeling disheartened about not being in normal range yet to say I've thrown off that person I had hanging around my neck. I still exist in the fat girl syndrome tho but when it starts moving again I will feel diferently I guess. I remember my first visit to Trudy the nutritionist after surgery. She brought out a lump of modelled fat which weighed 2 kgs I think. It really gave me pause for thought. I think it is so easy to think of the weight as figures on the scales. After all that's what we've done all our lives. It's easy to forget that being overweight is more than numbers, it's how we feel which does influence how we look. It takes a long time to truly look at yourself in the mirror or on a video and see yourself objectively and it is SO EASY to slip back into the figures on a scale mentality - which does also apply to any weight-conscious people, be they fat or very thin.
