Wow, Todd............ 90 pounds!!! That's wonderful !!

How are you feeling (besides being broke from buying clothes that fit)?

I had my RNY open in Feb of 2005. Starting weight was 302. Now I'm at 163.

No complications.

What a blessing thiss was.

I waas diabetic, had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol. Now

they are all gone!! Dr. took me off all meds

I'm taking nothing but vitamins and minerals. !! I consider myself very

lucky.

I'd like to lose another 15 pounds but, won't be too dissappointed if I stay

where I am. At least, I'm healthy again.

Best of luck to you !

Gos Todd,

That's wonderful. The last time I bought clothes, I thought< Gee, I'm not

sure that I knew they made clothes this small!! They were size 10 and 12

pants........ of course, I knew...I had just never looked at them, since I was

about 12 years old.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, self pay...that's a shame but, everyone I know, who was a self

pay, believes it was worth every penny. Hope you feel that way too.

Remmber, you are saving money on food, meds, and as you lose, your clothes

aren't as expensive in smaller sizes. There is a lot more chioce on clearance

racks!!

LOL... Have a great day!

Wow - that's wonderful Todd! Welcome to the group! I had my RNY on November

3rd and have lost 64 lbs since. I feel great! I'm already off of 1 of my meds

and go to the doctor tomorrow and I'll probably be off of another one. I

understand the broke thing, I was self pay too! the good thing though is that

you can deduct it from your income taxes for the year you had your surgery. I'm

taking it for 2005 and it's yielding a nice little return for me. You can claim

medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income, and for state

(at least for Alabama) it's even better!

:)

Welcome Todd! And congratulations!! You have had such a nice loss

already!! How are you feeling? What adjustments surprised you? How

are you eating? Any foods bothering you? What is your insight so far?

awwww thanks Kat!!

I FEEL TERRIFIC!!

the biggest surprise is how people really notice the loss

and how good it REALLY feels to hear the compliments.

i eat three " meals " ..and i use the term very loosely,a day

usually a yogurt and EAS ADVANT EDGE protein drink in the a.m.

what seems like gallons of water in between breakfast and lunch

lunch is usually soup....

i drink more crystal lights between lunch and dinner, with a couple

of s/f popsicles late afternoon

dinner is usually something like chili(i REALLY like the bush's

brand in the jar...really ground up good, and moist too goes down and

stays down awesome..lots of protein and not spicy! ...with sugar

free pudding and a popsicle for dessert!

my insight?...well i sometimes wonder if io would do it again...most

of the time i tell myself i would...but there are times when i

really really MISS food...i mean the way i used to eat food.when my

employees order pizza, and i cant have any..or when they go to taco

hell for lunch...im used to eating a half dozen taco's and a couple

of burritos(geeze no wonder i was so fat)..now i have my cup-o-

taco.that means i just scrape the stuff out of the taco, and throw

away the shell..BUT,i do love the pintos and cheese from taco

hell..YUM!!

well now that i've bored you all to death with my latest " novel "

lol...

;-)

Todd,

Oh I remember those days of Taco Bell's pinto and cheese, feeling

deprived when others eat etc. The good news is, that will pass also.

I eat pizza from time to time...granted its a piece or so or it

makes me feel ill. I don't miss food anymore. I still love to eat,

but I eat so much healtheir now than I have my entire life. Im 21

mo. post op now, and I eat like a normal person taking care of

themselves. My portions are reduced but I eat whatever is showing up

on the plate. I do pass on dessert but then I dont have to. I choose

to. That is a powerful word..choice. Having this weight off feels so

damn good that not even a truffle has power over me anymore. Gosh I

can't remember the last time I had a sugar free popsicle! sounds

yummie again lol

When they have us go through the psych evals, and do all the

teaching about the surgery and diets etc...they don't warn you about

what the emotional side of this journey will be like. But then its

different for us all. I just had no idea that something as simple as

changing my physical anatomy, would really force me to change my

emotional/coping skills. It was good for me in more ways than

one..but then it was so harddddd to do. Im excited for you. You have

a great attitude I can tell. You are an asset to yourself and to the

others on this board that are looking for guidance. Keep sharing

your stories..both the good and the bad. someone out there will

learn from you too.

it wouldnt have made a difference anyway

nobody was gonna talk me out of doing the surgery!!

This is a great place!!! I haven't had a lot of time the last few

weeks to come and post. Hopefully this week will be slower and I'll

have more time to jump in and say hello!!! :) By the way your pix
