Guest guest
She was casted at 3 months 1 week and is now 4 months 1 week...Yeah it took a week for insurance approval. and 3 for them to ship it and recieve it back. I think we're getting the STARBand.. the only reason i know that is form others who have gone to Lawall. But they didn't even tell me that. They told me they had to ship the cast to Florida. So i will definately get pics up when she recieves it. We never got measurements for the assymetry, like the mm everyone knows. No idea what ours are.. And i know her face is growing assymetrical, in fact she seems to be getting a bumb on the side of her head opposite the plagio. It's all so fustrating. i can seeit in her eyes and Her ears are very missaligned. We didn't get any pics while we were there. So i really don't know what to expect. I will def. keep everyone posted om her appt on thursday. wish us luck:) and my 2 Girls:Madison 6/17/02 & Ava 11/9/03FreeCycle
Guest guest
i didn't realize it has been 4 weeks since casting. I would definitely check the fit closely. I would check out pictures in the files of correctly fitting bands. I would definitely let the ortho know you are concerned about the time between casting and fitting. Please let us know how Thursday goes. Angie and Jenna(STAR grad 1/03)
Guest guest
, I am so sorry about the outage of their not calling you to tell you that her helmet is in! 4 weeks is indeed a long time to go between casting and fitting, no wonder you are so upset - I would be, too. I don't know personally, but I have read other posts where an extended time between casting and fitting can be a problem, especially if the baby has had a growth spurt or change in head shape. You and your daughter deserve a well-fitted product that is going to successfully treat her plagio, so you should feel entitled to demand a great fit and correctly-sized helmet. Would you please post to the group and let us know how her Thursday appt. goes? I will be thinking of you all and hoping that all goes smoothly. Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > SPeaking of this... Guest guest
Hi : Well shoot, that's not the update I was looking for was only what, 4 mos when she was casted then? And is 5 mos now? As Christie said, 4 wks to go between casting & fitting is too long, especially when we're talking about a rapidly growing 4-5 mos old baby's head. Yikes. I had my own personal problem with that long of a gap between my Abby's STARband casting & fitting. She was 7 mos old when casted, waited 4 wks to be fitted and from the get go, her STARband never fit properly. I am not trying to freak you out, but please, be careful when the band comes in. Keep a watchful eye for any red spots, etc.etc.. It would be great if you could post a picture of her wearing it after you receive it Thursday. Could you do that for us? If you are at all uncomfortable w/the band's fit, don't hesitate to demand a new casting & a new band at no cost to you or your ins. company. I'm sorry, how frustrating for you. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Yep she did!! she is now a banded baby:) ALthogh the fitting was a PIA. i think we mst have had a new guy. i was there for 2 hours before i cried...lol... it just didnt seem to fit right and then Bash at Lawall came to the rescue. Everything seems to be great! 2 faint red spots but they go away after a while when she has it off. We are slowly working our way to 23 hours. Her little head gets soo hot and sweaty. We have a check up on friday:) and my 2 Girls:Madison 6/17/02 & Ava 11/9/03FreeCycle

Guest guest
Glad to hear it's going well so far ! Please keep us posted on her progress. The sweat will decrease over the next several days after her body temp adjusts to this new thing on top her head. Guest guest
well lastnight.. we made it through... in fact she slept from 9:30-6:00. With her band on. i only had to get up 2-3 times to put the binky back in. BUT of course i took it off this morning and we now have 2 big red marks on her cheeks, that haven't gone away. we took it off at 11:00 or so and now it's 2:00... it almost looks like a little blister was going to form on each side of her little face.. One step forward 2 steps back... thats how this process is going.. ughh! and my 2 Girls:Madison 6/17/02 & Ava 11/9/03FreeCycle

Guest guest
I would call the ortho on monday. It sounds like an adjustment needs to be made. Let us know what you find out. Angie and Jenna(STAR grad)
Guest guest
Hi : Ugh, always something!!! Is the redness better yet? Definitely call your orthotist Monday, sounds like the band needs an adjustment. Hang in there! Debbie > well lastnight.. we made it through... in fact she slept from 9:30- 6:00. Guest guest
Some correction. But miserable in the helmet, We had an adjustment on friday, and now it seems too small again, already. Right where the spacer goes there's room on either side and her skin kinda bunches up there. I dunno... i'm pretty fed up. She will NOT sleep with this thing on her head. He told me to let her sleep in the car seat, since she will sleep with it on in there, But how uncomfortable for the night. She likes to be streched out. Ackk... ! and my 2 Girls:Madison 6/17/02 & Ava 11/9/03"Can't use it...Don't throw it away!""Someone could probably use it in your area!"Keep unwanted items out of the dump!!ChooseFreecycleNeed help decorating for an event?Festive Creations
Guest guest
i wish it was that easy,,,,.. She was up to 20 hours. And it is a better fit.. But we need an adjustment, we're getting red spots in the wrong spots. And her head is hot. it's weird her head feels awefully warm, no fever, but her head is hot.. it's strange. and that is w/o her helmet on. So we have 3 appts on monday, one for the helmet , one for and Madison has an appt too. So we're pretty busy. I haven't seen any hange in her head, it's still retty bad yet. ughh... what a long road. and my 2 Girls:Madison 6/17/02 & Ava 11/9/03"Can't use it...Don't throw it away!""Someone could probably use it in your area!"Keep unwanted items out of the dump!!ChooseFreecycleNeed help decorating for an event?Festive Creations

Guest guest
Well shoot . I bet you're ready to scream at this point. It's been a long time now and still no correction?? At 's young age, she should be showing correction by now. What does your orthotist say? Sorry, hang in there. Debbie > i wish it was that easy,,,,.. She was up to 20 hours. And it is a better > fit..
