Guest guest
Sheri, You are doing so well under all this pressure. If Kadie only knew! All these decisions about her little headshape : ) To band or not to band is always the question. At least on this site. It seems to me that the majority in the medical field looks down on orthosis equipment as a whole. I don't know why this is. Kids really don't seem to mind the klunky things on their heads. If they did, you wouldnt see too many pictures of smiling babies on this site. Also, there are fit issues (and a few catrastophies like in todays post-incorrect helmet)but I truly believe they work more often then not. Kadie has a brachy/plagio combo. I feel she could truly benefit from a band/helmet. It couldn't hurt. You see such amazing results and it's twice as fast as repoing. If she were my daughter I would go ahead and have it done. I hope you don't take this post the wrong way. Not trying to throw a monkey wrench into your decision. Wether you decide to go with treament or not, however, she still is a cutie pie. Good luck with your repositioning. Sincerely, Crista-Grayslake, IL Mom to -9 mo old-DOCbanded 5/13 brachy > Well Got great news from Kadies Neuro appt yesterday. Guest guest
Sheri ~ There is good improvement from week 1 to week 3! WOW! Good job! I'm sorry you still have mixed feelings. I don't remember how old Kadie is but she looks itty bitty enough that repo'ing may just do it! I will support you either way and cannot really tell you what to do bcz I think she is on the mild side too. Honestly there are some babies that I see on this sight where the decision is much harder than others and Kadie is one of them. Keep us posted! I'm sorry I am not much help but I am here to listen. Guest guest
Hi Sheri: Ahhhhhh, we can all relate to your confusion and stress!!! Bottom line is do what YOU feel most comfortable doing. It does sound to me like you're happy with her current headshape. As I'm sure others will tell you, ask yourself " Will I be ok with her head 10 yrs from now if IF it did NOT improve more on it's own over time? " If so, then so be it and don't band. If not, then perhaps pursue banding her. Ultimately, this is always the parents final decision and most neuros/drs will not tell you what to do one way or the other, they leave it up to us. I too wish someone would've just said " YES BAND THAT KID! " lol just to take some of the pressure off me! Let us know whatever you decide to do. Think long & hard about it, weighing all the pros & cons. Debbie > Well Got great news from Kadies Neuro appt yesterday.
