Guest guest
Noreen, How is your Mom supposed to SEE cellular damage that the Glucophage may do? Sorry, but sometimes I get frustrated with doctors not even using common sense at times. Any response from ask the mito doc yet? LilSis > " P. The doctor told mom to start the Glucophage very slowly, and advance only if she didn't suffer any side effects, and she is to see him in one month, so he is proceeding cautiously. I still feel uneasy, and although I had a little trouble posting my question to Ask the Mito Doc because of a Microsoft update we got that was blocking my UMDF login without my knowing it, I got the question posted early this morning, and I will sure let you know as soon as I get any response at all. In trying to work out the login problem, Kara and Melinda at UMDF, and Terri, the webmaster, were just amazing: What a great group of people UMDF has been gifted with! Thanks for your concern, LilSis, and I will certainly let you know what response I get to my question to the Mito Doc. Guest guest
First of all you need to be a UMDF member, are you? If so, go to http://www.umdf.org/ then click on Mitochondrial Disease in the upper right hand corner of the main page, then scroll down to " Ask the Mito Doc " . Guest guest
Noreen, I'm sorry I wasn't very clear. Most of the meds that shouldn't be taken by mito patients is because those meds cause further damage to the mitochondria, and THAT can't been seen in any blood test that I know of. That is why I say that your Mom can't " see " those kind of side effects and those are the dangerous ones in my book for mito patients. I hope I haven't confused you further. (LilSis) > " P.
