Hallo to all,

I am a new member.

I am banded and will have my gastric bypass talk tomorrow. I am

sacared of the operation and scared that it will have no effect.

I have been banded for four months now and haven't lost any weight and

that's why I want to have the gastric bypass done, but I am afraid it

won't work too.

Please help me make up my mind.

Thanks

Hi Miss Alias!

Congrats on your GBS seminar. I lost 141 pounds with surgery and

it's the best thing I ever did!

Best wishes,

Robyn

That was really my biggest fear going in to my surgery. I became convinced that

it wasn't

going to work, and I was going to be heavy for the rest of my life. You just

have to think

about it scientifically. You physically have to lose weight after gastric

bypass because of

the amount of calories you can ingest in the beginning. It is not a magic cure,

and it does

take discipline and effort, especially as time passes, but it will work!

I'm not totally sure how the band works, BUT with the bypass surgery

it will force you to eat diffrently. I've lost 125 lbs and was a big

snacker. I still like to snack but I do it on a smaller level now.

Good luck to you!!! We are here if you have anymore questions.

Hugs!!

It's a scary thing to wonder if you will lose weight........Like Carly said

there is no way you won't lose by the amount of calories ingested. It does work

but you have to be committed to make it work, too. Good luck, I wish you well &

please keep us posted. Barb :)

Hi --

I think (and it is only my opinion...) that it would probably do you well to

cnsider why the band has not worked. Isthe band faulty? Or have you depended

on the band to MAKE you lose weight, instead of using it as a tool to change

your attitude, habits and choices? If you opt to do the soul searching and find

that perhaps you were depending on the band as a fix instead of a tool, perhaps

you are not prepared for the bypass either. Remember, surgery is not a sure

cure. It is only a kick-start to changes YOU need to make within yourself.

bleesings and good luck on making the right decision for YOU!
