Guest guest
Hi Penny, I wonder if Kenzie would eat popcicles made from juice? I make them for , mostly pineapple juice (because of the phenol/salic problems he has) I add some purple grape for color or he won't eat them and then dilute alot with water. This takes alot longer for them to eat, so he wouldn't be drinking as much juice. I didn't quite understand if you meant an entire bottle of juice intake, plus water or a diluted whole bottle a day. I know if drank and entire bottle of juice in one day, I'd be peeling him off the ceiling. I know it is brutal to do this diet, esp. the intro. has been on it for 5 months now and I too have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but it is doing so much to heal his gut, it is incredible. If I can help you at all, please write me. is hard to do this diet with also as he has severe gut issues, can't do salicylates, phenols, nuts, dairy, still battling yeast, bacteria, etc.......I spend so much time trying to figure out what he can eat,and what he will eat,two entirely different things as you know! Guest guest
Wow, Penny! Good for you! I'm impressed. Yep, the green poop sounds very much like die-off (we got bright yellow!) Sue (From Pickering) Mom to , 4, formerly? ASD, SCD 11 months > Well we basically started yesterday at noon. He has had just chicken breast with salt and lots of Welch's White Grape Juice. I hope he's not drinking too much. He's basically going through a big bottle in a day. I take one bottle and fill it half to three quarters of the way with water and then add grape juice but he's drinking constantly. > > His behavior is ok other than a little hyper. He's asked for apples and bananas a few times. Now for the graphic part. I just changed his pants. He had clumpy and also very watery poop and it was kind of greenish. It's never been this color before and it hasn't been watery in a long time. Can I assume this is diet off from no fruit or honey? > > I'm going to keep him home from school for two more days and let him adjust to the changes. When do you think it would be safe to give him a banana or pear sauce? Again, is the amount of juice he's drinking ok? It seems to keep him away from thinking about fruit too much. He won't drink as much once he's in school. > > Thank you all who responded to my pleas yesterday. I'm trying to change my attitude about all of this. So far today things are going pretty well. And any of you willing to come to the middle of nowhere on your journey to Yellowstone National Park, come and see me. I'll be happy to let you do the cooking. > > Thanks > Penny > Kenzie SCD 5 months > SCD for real 1 day > >
Guest guest
Penny - a word of encouragement - and I are going through the same thing. He started SCD in mid July but I started everything way too soon and due to various circumstances he got one major illegal every two to three weeks for several months! We cut WAY back on everything starting in January, no more raw fruit or nut flour, no more yummy cookie press cookies or six-egg pecan muffins. I am also trying to cut out phenols. We did the intro AGAIN this weekend. I just added pear sauce today and will hopefully add bananna this coming weekend and cashew butter muffins a week after that. He eats poached egg yolks (refuses the whites), baked chicken, pork chops, meringues (I was finally successful at that yesterday), pear sauce, Gwaltney bacon, and juice (one bottle made into four). Thats it. He reacts crazy to gelatin so I cannot give him that though they do use SCD marshmallows as a reinforcer/treat at school. He so wants some bananna but they are not ripe enough yet and I want to make sure he dosen't react to the pears first. I cannot imagine what the school thinks of his lunch (pork chop, pear sauce, meringues) but he HAS gained nine pounds since July so I don't give a hoot. Maybe I will have a green bean battle this weekend, won't that be fun? He HAS made tremendous progress but STILL no language and no trophies since September (they are formed but soft and leave a mess to wipe). He is in the extreme hunger stage right now for the first time since July so we must be doing something right! Anyway, I want to let you know you are NOT alone, I just don't post my failures much! Keep your chin up - you are doing the BEST thing for Kenzie! Alice SCD since July, but doing it right since January. ----- Original Message ----- > > Thank you all who responded to my pleas yesterday. I'm trying to change my attitude about all of this. I have been reading most of your posts and was actually sort of praying that this may one day happen. Greenish poop is telling you something is actually changing! And about the drinking: as long as you water it down the way you do now, he'll be flushing things out even quicker with so much water. great job! Guest guest
It is great to hear a good report from you! I love your title! Once my oldest son asked my husband and I what we did at night when he went to sleep.. jokingly we said we changed his brother's diapers and looked at the poop and showed it to each other.. hehe. Ironicly lately it has been true. We have had all sorts of colors! Some pretty spectacular stuff. Lately it has been very dark green almost black. He is on an antibiotic right now.. as I am still in limbo land waiting for one final test to be ordered before I can take him on the SCD journey. We are working on a celiac diagnosis here but I need to have him on all those lovely grains to get an accurate test. Keep plugging away.. and if you live near Yellow stone.. hey I'll come and cook you some acorn squash and apple soup.. it was yummy.. and with some chicken on the side for Kenzie! Guest guest
I never would have thought years ago that my world would revolve around the color, texture and odor of poop. Sad, very sad. THIS IS A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE. If you ever get to the west gate of Yellowstone National Park, you better come see me. I'm only 30 miles away in beautiful country.
