Hi !!

First WELCOME to the group!!! I had this same problem, but for me it

was my Dad (step dad) He was furious and scared to death that I

chose to do this. My Mom was against it but was not as verbal as my

Dad. My Dad and Mom and sister and Brother are all fit and have

NEVER had a weight problem. I was kind of the freak in the family. I

asked them to go to a support group meeting that my surgeon held on

a weekly basis. My Dad refused to go. My Mom did go and asked a

bunch of questions and felt better about things. I basically told my

Dad that I love him BUT I am doing this. I told him that I'm an

adult and that my husband loves me and was supporting my decision.

My Dad was never okay with the surgery until he saw the weight fall

of and me reclaim my life. He is now happy that I did this and that

I'm healthy and free of compilations.

I didn't tell a lot of my friends. I just told a few close friends.

I still have friends that don't know that I have had this surgery. I

just have kind of figured it was none of their business.

I'm sorry your Mom is having such a hard time with this. I would

tell her that you love her but you are doing this. You hope that she

will be there to support you. We are here for you!! If you have any

just cant understand why I cant exercise and eat right and lose the

weight. Also, a friend of mine had the wls and has had so many

complications from it she doesnt want me to have it done. She will

suport me if I have it done though she said. She just doesnt want me

to go through what she has I guess. So, I was just wondering how or

what I can say to the ones that arent wanting me to have this done?
