Guest guest
Moe, Great job! Thanks for telling us what you did and how it turned out. I really like how well the " storyboarding " (visioning the event) worked for you. You planned ahead, carried out your plan, and were successful! Hooray! You'll be getting that new pair of walking shoes soon! :-) Another good thing: you learned that people might *not* " sabotage " your efforts -- you were worried that people might comment on what you were eating, but they didn't. In the " old days " (before WW), you might have just acted on your assumptions about what they were thinking; now you do what is right for you -- and they don't mind! :-) Carry on -- ever downward! -:|:- ----- Original Message ----- From: " Moe " .... I also lived through planning and carrying out a graduation party. I called Kroger ahead of time and asked what the stats were for a piece of the cake and it turned out to be 9 pts so I skipped it. I love their cakes, but it's a tiny piece for 9 pts and I thought I was not going to waste my pts. So I ate 10 chips, a plate of raw veggies and a pickle. It was very satifying along with my water and actually nobody noticed that I did not eat any BBQ or cake. What I did was fill my DS plate with food and then when it came time for cake I went and got my DH and DS a slice along with some punch for them. And nobody noticed that I did not eat those things, since I had a heaping plate of veggies!! And remember I said my DH's family would comment if they did not see me eat, so I was thrilled and I actually laid in bed the night before thinking about exactly what I would eat and drink while there!! 234/225/211 (buying a new pair of walking shoes when I reach -25 lbs.!!) -------------------------------
Guest guest
That is sooo good that you used those 9 points wisely!!! Doesn't it make you feel so strong and in control!! wow! > I ate a slice of pie at Bob , thinking maybe 6 pts? YIKES it turned out to be 470 cals, 33 grams of fat and 1 gram fiber! Need I say more? Guest guest
Cool Moe! Not cool that you ended up with a piece of killer pie, but cool that you learned from it and didn't blame them for your misjudgement. You took responsibility, you learned to call ahead and ask for calorie counts, and you made up for it and didn't let it ruin your day. You deserve a blue ribbon! ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~` Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator The successful person will do things that the unsuccessful person will not. > I'm back > > > I ate a slice of pie at Bob , thinking maybe 6 pts? > YIKES it turned out to be 470 cals, 33 grams of fat and 1 > gram fiber! Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am back at home and utterly uterless. I had the hysterectomy and am already bored sitting at home. I took a glance through the e-mails today. One that caught my eye was one about the bladder problems and lupus. Somehow, I lost it in the shuffle. Could someone tell me where I could read more about this. The surgery wasn't the bad part. The cathater caused extreme pain in my bladder. Long after they got the pain from the surgery was under control, the bladder pain was unbearable. I'll check back soon.
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome back! I am glad you have the surgery behind you now. Sorry the pain, especially from the catheter. I know from person experience how unpleasant they are! Sorry, but I did not keep the email on lupus and bladder trouble, so hopefully someone else will fill you in on that. Please just rest and take it easy and give yourself the time you need to recover.
Guest guest
, What a relief to hear the surgery went well! You have been in my mind frequently with this... whadda lot to have on your plate at once! I'm sorry to hear that the catheter was so painful. It's great to have you back. Guest guest
Debbie, I've never had that done but I know I've read in many places that if you need to stop your medication for testing you can take Cytomel instead becasuse of the short life of T3. I would ask my Dr if you could take Cytomel and if need be stop if 2 days before the test. That would be better than being off all meds for 10-14 days. Louise PS I would bet About.com has info. > I went this am for my thyroid ultrasound and iodine uptake. No one told > me I had to be off meds for 10-14 days. So all they did was the ultra > sound and rescheduled the uptake for March 31. Now, I don't even know > if I want that uptake study done. I am worried about being off Armour > for 12 days! Anybody got opinions on this? > > Blessings, > Debbie K. > > > >
Guest guest
I think the radioactive isotope uptake (would that be a RIU?) is to see how well my thyroid absorbs iodine. As I said, I am scared of the thought of going without for 12 days. I am going to call tomorrow morning and clarify this with the doc. I think my armour does need to be increased, but am (same ol' story here) trying to co-operate with the doc. He should have my bloodwork back by now, so I will call in the morning to get them to fax it to me. I have already been sneaking in an extra quarter grain since March 5th. I plan to increase the second week in April, unless I see Dr. Milton in Cumming, GA before then and he advises to increase it. I have an appointment with him on the 30th, but now, I can't get my RIU until the 31st. So I dont' know if I need to postpone Dr. Milton or not. I've been on Armour for five or six weeks now (brain is foggy tonight). Last week, I reported to you all that my neck was slimming down. Tonight, I think I noticed my face is sliming down also. I've been reading " Thyroid, Guardian of Health " . It mentions swealing ankles and puffy face as symptomatic of hypo. I've also almost completely stopped snoring, I can go to sleep easier, wake more rested, don't feel the need for a nap, and can stay awake in church. I was almost falling asleep while driving, but very, very seldom have that problem now. My outlook on life and energy is a good bit better, but there is still room for improvement. That's all my foggy brain can think of right now. Blessings, Debbie K. Re: I'm Back Welcome back Debbie!!! Hey, you asked for opinions and mine is---I would NEVER EVER get off Armour for 12 days. Docs are test-heavy and what's the point anyway!! Is there something going on here that I have forgotten?? Are you doing ok on the amount of Armour you are on?? If not, why aren't you increasing it?? What the heck is
Guest guest
Hi there Debbie. I am admittedly a skeptic about docs and their tests! I can look back at my life and see SO SO many USELESS tests that were done on me, simply because the docs were not informed. So my question with you is---what is so unique about you that this doc thinks you need a thyroid scan? Has he mentioned cancer? Do you have nodules which cause him to think that?? (I can't remember what you have said about this in the past--sorry about that!!) Janie > I think the radioactive isotope uptake (would that be a RIU?) is to see > how well my thyroid absorbs iodine. Guest guest
Don't worry about that Janie. I often can't remember either!!LOL Maybe I can answer the other questions after the doc gets back with me. Guest guest
Whewww! The doc said forget the thyroid uptake for now. I can continue my meds and keep my appointment to see him on Monday. We will discuss wether we still want to do the thyroid uptake then. I'm wondering if something on the blood work has him maybe changing his mind about the thyroid uptake. While on the phone, I asked them to fax my bloodwork. STILL NO FREE T3!!! I think I am through with this doc, but want to see what he says on monday. But here's what we do have. Ferritin 112 3-105 TSH .74 .34-4.89 FT4 .8 .71-1.85 T3 Uptake 1 .66-1.27 They also did a hepatic function panel and a basic metabolic panel. Do ya'll want those? .... I'm thinking they don't matter to us. What is T3 Uptake? I haven't gotten the docs official word on the ultrasound, but from what the technician said and from what I saw, I don't think there's any cancer problem. I don't know why he ordered the tests, except that he was surprised that no one had done this before. They must be rather routine with him. Re: I'm Back Hi there Debbie. Guest guest
I am scheduled to see him for the first time on the 30th. I am just having to cooperate with local docs (per dh) until then. Can't wait to see him! Blessings, Debbie K. RE: Re: I'm Back Hi Debbie, are you the one going to see Dr. Milton? Have you seen him before? I saw him for the first time last week.
