Guest guest
So now I'm convinced that fruit is evil. What do I send to school? That leaves pork rinds and cinnamon cookies with the honey. The meat sauce success didn't last very long. always says that most of our foods are " one hit wonders " . Good one day but never again. I'm serious. I truly don't know what to feed this kid at school. Do I let him go hungry a few days. I know his teacher is not going to tolerate that. I'd take that as a good sign that he is going through die-off. Good point. We went through this with GFCF and now the same with SCD. literally claws at the cabinets and searches high and low for illegals. This is why I just moved any illegal food out to a high garage cabinet. It lasted about a week with the GFCF and this time only about 3 days with the SCD. Now he only mentions that he is going to eat potato chips when he is mad at me, but he doesn't go searching anymore. AS LONG AS I have food available that he likes. Part of it is that he just doesn't see the illegal stuff. We were at the drugstore last night and I had to keep going after him when he was trying to go down the snack aisle. He still wants it, but that intensity is gone. Jane Mama to ASD (6) and NT (3) - Maybe NT, but big time gut and sensory issues. Guest guest
Hi Penny, I agree with Sue. It is going to continue to be impossible until you get support from the family. My husband decided to join me on the diet after I ended up in the ER after consuming tiny amounts of illegals. The doctor said that despite the fact that I was in tremendous pain my bloodwork was absolutely amazing for someone with bowel disease. My vitamin and mineral amounts were all in perfect range. He was completely flabbergasted. So I explained the concept of the diet. His response was what ever you are doing keep it up and that he would tell his patients about it. That Day, my husband said he'd join me 100% on the diet because the support would help get me over the rough parts. I still had a long road to travel but we did it together and it really made a huge difference. I didn't feel alone doing the diet and knew that I had him standing behind me. Now, when Rob travels or has business meetings he'll eat whatever he can but at home we are all 100% on the diet - there are no illegals to be found. It was extremely cathartic and reassuring to know that the people I love the most were 100% behind me. Please don't take this the wrong way but if a candy pop is a treat what does that say. How about making legal muffins for your daughter or some peanut butter caramels or another legal sweet. If Kenzie isn't able to have it now tell him when his tummy gets better he can have them. Buy hair buckles for your daughter or stickers anything that can be a treat just not illegal food in the house where your Kenzie can eat it. Sheila, SCD 36 mos UC 20 yrs mom of SCD 21 mos >Penny! You need to have a break! Go to a nice book store for a few hours and have a coffee! With cream! Have a latte if you need to! You are going to drive yourself crazy!!! Anyway, fruit is not evil. Kenzie just isn't ready for it yet. Fruit is actually very good, in many ways! If you don't have the full support of your family, this isn't going to work for you. They need to get onside, because you can't do this if people are working against you. Here's what I'd do. Keep in mind that we have NEVER done the intro diet, and is doing well. But she's only 4, and YOU KNOW that means her gut has been less damaged than Kenzie's. Make the chicken soup. Don't expect him to eat it. Drain it and serve the chicken only. Don't even try to make him eat the carrots. Serve him chicken and pearsauce (if he'll eat that) or if not, serve him chicken and really, really ripe pear slices. Yes, everybody, I know that's not recommended, but Penny is desperate. And how about trying the nut yogurt? I swear to you, Penny, would barely touch meat at the beginning of SCD, and now she eats all kinds of meat. She lived on meat and bananas and grape juice for weeks and weeks! I don't know if she has a yeast problem, and frankly, I don't care because she is not in physical discomfort, and her behaviour and language and withitness have improved tremendously. I hope you are able to feel better about all this. Personally, I'd like to come and give your family a talking-to. You can't be expected to do this all alone. Guest guest
Hi Penny, Just wanted to add something (was distracted by my four year old jumping up and down) . My point about my ER trip was that although on the outside things looked really bad there was a lot of healing going on inside that only showed up with the blood tests. You say that you have seen some improvements with Kenzie and that he is only searching for illegals now. I'd take that as a good sign that he is going through die-off. And don't worry about coming to the list with this stuff that's what we are here for, we'll hold your hand along the way.
