Guest guest
Diane, What works for me is not buying the cookies. Some weeks I can have snacks around like cookies and other weeks they really get to me and I eat and eat. So I just get rid of them and start fresh. My motto.........if you don't buy it, you won't eat it! Good luck Moe

Guest guest
Then buy some that you don't like (if there is such a thing). That's what I do. I also allow a few points for the evening and get the lower fat pop corn and eat the whole bag with a big glass of ice tea or diet pop if I want sweet along with the salt. I started taking the B complex vitamins with my lunch and that also helps. My MIL told me about an article in Prevention that said if you take them with dinner it helps get rid of the munchies for some reason. I took a few weeks but it really does seem to work. I get the B-50 vitamins from Costco, it's $10 for a big bottle. I have been doing that for almost 6 months now and it really does seem to help. Kris -----Original Message----- I've got two kids. Guest guest
Wow. Those are terrific ideas! Especially that B-50 vitamins thing. I'm gonna do that, for sure. > Then buy some that you don't like (if there is such a thing). That's > what I do. Guest guest
You could buy individually packaged cookie servings, ice cream in really stupid packages (like cartoon characters), or whatever. Or, I take them out for ice cream, so it is really a treat for them, and not available for me. I have 4 kids, and we have snacks around, but not tons of stuff that I know that I will eat. Guest guest
Diane I'm channeling our good friend Tony here. First of all, why, if this is a lifestyle change, would even say to yourself " I'll blow my points tonight, but get back on it tomorrow? " How is that achieving your goal of good health? How does that help you reach your weight loss goal? Second of all, why do you have cookies in the house if you know you can't stay away from them? I swear if you say kids or hubby eats them, Tony is going to rise up and call you blessed! Get RID of them! Surround yourself with healthy alternatives. You're making this decision every few nights to just eat what you want and who cares about WW? Does that sound like it's going to get you where you want to go in any way, shape, or fashion? This isn't out of your control at all. It is completely, 100% within your control, and ONLY your control. Do you honestly think saying " No, I'll go do pushups instead of eat cookies! " is going to help? Do you ENJOY pushups? How is replacing something you find enjoyable with something you don't going to work? How about instead stocking up with FF popcorn and some good toppings (www.nonakedpopcorn.com) and eating THAT instead of the cookies? Popcorn takes awhile to eat so you have more time to find your satisfaction point. I do think maybe the knitting thing might be a pretty good idea, but only if you enjoy it. However the REAL problem here isn't with your hands. It's not like your hands are taking control of you. It's all in your mind. Okay, you've had it. Your hiney must be scorching! Guest guest
Oh you are in TROUBLE! You know what? I grew up in a house where ice cream and cookies were rarely around. They were VERY rare treats. I survived. Do your children NEED that junk? No! Of course not! Do we want them to have weight issues when they grow up because they think they " deserve " sweets on a regular basis? Yeah, they're probably perfectly slim now, but how many of US were slim as children and yet grew up and grew out? I don't believe in completely keeping kids away from all sweets, but if you fill the house with mostly good stuff and the occassional treat it will be good for YOU and your kids! ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~` Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator The successful person will do things that the unsuccessful person will not. > Re: Need Help for Evening munchies > > > I've got two kids. Guest guest
Diane, The thing that works best for me .... is that I eat my dinner, take a break - have my dessert (and if I have some extra points to burn, another little healthy snack).... by 7:30. Then, I mentally " close the kitchen " .... the KITCHEN IS CLOSED FOR THE NIGHT.... sometimes it's easier to just stay upstairs after I put the kids to bed at 8-8:30 --- sometimes I need to brush my teeth to cement the deal .... but mostly its' the mental trick of closing the kitchen that works for me ..... Guest guest
Tory, you gave just the answer I wanted to give but didn't have the nerve to! Come on Diane, teach your children better eating habits and they won't be where YOU are now. You deserve better and THEY deserve better. You can do it!!! Once I decided to do this, with only a few exceptions (which were days that I planned on going over, knowing that there was a special event) I have been within my points. Either you are going to do the WW plan or you are not. If I'm not going to do it, there is no need for me to say I'm doing it and then blow it every night. I wouldn't be losing weight and the only person I'd be trying to food would be myself. Once, I made the committment, that was it. I actually eat either ice cream or cookies several times a week. These aren't always the reduced fat kind either. It is usually a late night snack and I make sure to allow myself 2-3 points to have a snack. If it's cookies I want I get them OUT of the bag and go upstairs with the right amount. I eat them slowly and enjoy them. Why let yourself blow it and pig out?
