Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We are starting treatment for my 6 1/2 month old son Jay. We had our evaluation at CT yesterday and they said he would be a good candidate. I am feeling a little sad and very guilty about the whole thing. On the other hand I am relieved that we were not just " imagining " things and finally doing somehting about Jay's plagio. We started noticing his flat spot (on the right side) when he was 6 weeks old. At the 2 month check up his doctor told us to use a donut pillow for him to sleep. When we asked where to buy one .. she simply said " at the store " ! (We never did find one). And not to worry cause the head will round on its own when he grows up. However, I wasn't as aggressive as I should have been At his 4 month check up when we asked the Dr. again about his flat spot she did not even look at it and said once he sits up his head will get better. And I believed her! My DH was more concerned and kept pointing it out to me every chance he got (I mean every other minute!).. I kept telling him that the dr. said its no big deal.. it will be okay... and it irritated me that he was making an " issue " out of it. Well couple of weeks ago I read the article in the parents mag and went online and did a search on plagio! I was shocked! I changed Jay's doc. and his 6 month appt asked what he thought. He asked to get an evaluation from CT right away because Jay is at the right age to get the band. He also suggested using the jumperoo and exersaucer more often and keep him off his back when he is awake. We are repositioning him aggressively and there is some improvement. We have decided to band him however since its really hard to reposition him at night Thank you for reading this post. I just needed vent about the whole situation. I cant help but feel its all my fault .. being a stay at home mommy.. I should noticed and corrected it before
Guest guest
Hi! It's hard when you get differing opinions from drs., and you're learning about the condition for the first time. Don't feel guilty...be happy you're doing it now. It's not like you missed your window of opportunity. Have a great day!! Hello!! new to the group.. Guest guest
Welcome to the group! So many of us have gone through the exact same thing! It still irritates me so much to hear "it will round out on it's own"...Ahh! Don't feel guilty about anything. You were just listening to the "experts". You didn't know any better....They don't tell you about this anywhere. Not in the hospital, not in any baby books, not at your peds office! The scare you so much about having them sleep on their backs, I didn't even put on his stomach until he was 2 months old. They casually mention tummy time, but don't really emphasize why it is important. I'm so glad you saw that article! Jay is at a great age to receive excellent correction. In no time he will be on his way to a rounder head! and (DOCgrad 13-Feb-04/10-14mos./PA)jm2003mom <kpadwal@...> wrote: Hi Everyone,We are starting treatment for my 6 1/2 month old son Jay.
