We headed up to Home Depot yesterday and I was shocked we didn't

get many stares at all. Just a few second looks was all. Alot of

people smiled when they saw . I guess he has a friendly face

even beneath all that plastic. Nobody asked (yet) what the helmet was

for. My neighbor even said she saw a little girl at her church with

one on.

He's napping peacefully now. What's funny is that he now turns his

head to one side. He used to be straight on the back of his head

sleeper before the Band. I can't tell if the side burns still pinch

him when he lies straight on. I'm glad he figured out he could turn

his head and be comfortable. Our next fitting appt is this Thursday.

Hi Crista,

Glad to hear your first time out went good! :) Many people (myself

include) aren't that lucky. Its always interesting to hear from

somenoe else that they know of another kiddo in a helmet. I still

have yet to see one out in public with one on though. My son has

since graduated, but still not round enough. I think when I finally

DO see a kiddo with one one the parents will think im a wacko.. hehe.

Hi Crista. I know that " first outing " can be tough. You don't know

what to expect. I'm glad it went well. I was so nervous about that

at the beginning and now that my son has had his helmet for 2

months, I forget what people are looking at sometimes! I never

thought I'd say that (that I'm actually used to this). I've even

started to think that Dylan looks cute in his helmet. At first I

thought it was so awful. I'll bet looks adorable. Good

luck and keep us all updated on his progress!

Crista,

I'm glad your first outing wasn't too bad! In all the many months

Hannah has been banded I've only encountered a few downright rude

people. I got many more funny questions and remarks when she was

younger. I hardly ever get people ask anymore now that she's so

mobile, probably b/c it seems most people assume she " falls alot " or

fell and hurt herself. I also get more of the comments that people

think she wears it for protection now too. WHen she was younger I

got more sympathy related stuff like seizure helmet, post surgery,

etc. IT was more of the " oh, what happened? " where now it's " she

must be an active one, huh? "
