Guest guest
Ignacio had his first follow up appointment with DOC #2 last friday and the ortho was very impressed with the growing he has done during the last ten days. She expects that when the treatment is finished we will get great correction. Of course, we still have the part of the head that will remain flat and bumpy due to the impacted sutures but the changes are noticeable and dh and I are really happy with the results we are getting so far. The good news is that, finally, we are able to travel every 14 days... On other notes, the twins are teething. I just feel like an awful mom because I did not notice it until I saw 's mouth and saw that the two lower teeth were out... so I decided to check Ignacio's mouth and discover that one of the lower teeth was half out. Right now the first teeth is completely out (at least the top) and the other is starting to break the gum. So I guess I dont have little babies any more...lol. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I am happy that there is no evidence on Ignacio's head getting wider. It sounds like he is receiving wonderful correction. Jenna didn't have tort so I don't have good advice. I guess if it was me I would keep doing the exercises. Itthink it would only help. Guest guest
Annie, I'm glad they were able to confirm with you that his head isn't getting any wider. I'm sure it makes you feel better! How long will he be able to wear this band now? Hannah didn't have tort, so I don't know about the stretches, but I'd think it can't hurt anything right? At this point you've been through so much, you'd probably rather be safe than sorry. , mom to Hannah, DOC #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > Well... our last appointment was on Thursday. Guest guest
Hello Annie Willow also has tort which at this point is believed to be resolved, but you always want to keep an eye out for a tilt coming back at times of sickness /fatique / teething / new milestones etc. CT def is right about you wanting to continue exersises with Ignacio. If you can get him to turn to the tortside then you won't have to do streches yourself b/c you are getting him to do it. TUMMYTIME is the best thing you can do for the tort and the plagio. Willow also didn't do much when realeased out of her band and just try to limit the time that he spends on any surfaces with the head. As far as sitting goes. Again I can't stress enough that some babies SPECIALLY preemies do things slower and at a time when they feel they are ready. I forgot how old Ignacio is, but Willow was about 81/2months old when she sat the first time with lots and lots of pillows and she STILL tips over at times now and she is 10months old on Friday. Guest guest
Hi Annie, Tort babies should have PT until they are walking. If I'm not mistaken a growth spurt could cause the tort to return. > Well... our last appointment was on Thursday. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I am relieved to hear that Ignacio's head measurement went well regarding your concern that he appeared to be getting wider in the back to you. I commend your ortho for raising the regression concern since Ignacio isn't interested in sitting - I hadn't thought of that, but it does seem that if the baby isn't up and about during the day, it could raise a regression risk. I know you have probably tried everything, but what sorts of sitting " devices " have you used to encourage the sitting position? Have you tried the piled up pillows, boppy, or the bumbo baby seat? I think the bumbo website says up to 14 months, so maybe that could be a option www.bumbobabyseat.com . I know that Remy and Ignacio aren't on the same timeline, but we also had an issue with getting her to be interested in sitting. Since I was repo'ing her from 5 months on, she spent a lot of time in the exersaucer, so she was used to and preferred the standing position. She hated to bend her legs! I distinctly felt she just didn't want to sit, when she could stand. Remy, who was very lean, walked at 9 months, and I think I couldn't even get her to sit until 9 months also. In the high chair for feeding times, she'd always lean over to the side of the seat back. In the grocery cart, I'd have to belt her up tight under the arms, because she'd just slump over to one side. Being to big to be carried around the in the carseat, eating out was a disaster trying to use the restaurant high chair. Eventually, we got it worked out, and I know you all will too! Take care, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Well... our last appointment was on Thursday. Guest guest
Hi Annie, Have you talked to Ignacio's PT since your last CT visit? Maybe they have some advice. I wish I could help. Maybe you could continue the stretching exercises at home (as a precaution) until he is up and getting around? > Well... our last appointment was on Thursday.
