Guest guest
Dear Char, My son is also 7 months old and we are still in the process of getting his Starband. None of the Doctors or orthotists we saw indicated that there would be less of a chance of correction because of his age. His soft spots are pretty small too. The way I understood it was that correction was still possible but treatment might just take a little longer. I thought their heads were still pretty moldable until about 18 months. I hope this helps. Sara Mishawaka, IN
Guest guest
that is utter nonsense and i am soo frustrated that drs tell parents this my youngest son was banded at 8mos he has been in his band 3wks and we have seen huge differnces in his head even in the few weeks he has been in it, that just soo frustrating that they say stupid stuff like that 4-8mos i think is the ideal time to start treatment but they do treat babys much older up to 24mos in some casees and with hism being early he isnt considered 7mos yet he would be considered 6mos, my sons adjusted age is 7.5mos and he is 8.5mos welcome btw i hope more chime in and give your more info Hillymom to 6ages 12,7,5,4,2,8mos ped. says not expect results due to babys age hi everyone, posted lastnight but can't find it today. short version: pediatrican ssays not to expect too much due to babys age and soft spots closing already. my son is 7 mths old on the first of march(born one month premeture). anyone have any problems with no or little results due to babys age? anything encouraging would help. ghthank you char & baby thomasFor more plagio info
Guest guest
Hi Char and welcome to the group. My son was almost 10 months by the time we got him in his band. He went from 8mm asymmetry and +2 standard deviations brachy index to 3mm asymmetry and less than 1 std. dec. brachy in just over 4 months. Since he was within the normal range, and we felt his head looked good, we decided not to go for a second band. You can definitely see good results with older babies. However, you may want to consider an active band (such as STAR or DOC) as opposed to a passive band when the babies are on the older side. and (DOCgrad 13-Feb-04/10-14mos./PA)charfurb <charfurb@...> wrote: hi everyone, posted lastnight but can't find it today. short version: pediatrican ssays not to expect too much due to babys age and soft spots closing already. my son is 7 mths old on the first of march(born one month premeture). anyone have any problems with no or little results due to babys age? anything encouraging would help. ghthank you char & baby thomasFor more plagio info
Guest guest
I just wanted to agree with the others. 7 months is not to old. My daughter was banded at 9 months and still received approximately 80% coreection in 12 weeks.
