Yup, don't mean to freak you out or anything. It's all a part of it.

You don't want to go into surgery, with the surgeon not knowing everything

he can !!

You'll do fine. It's just a few minutes in exchange for a lifetime of

better health ! How can you argue with that?? LOL

I went and got thru the pre-op. Who know the gallbladder ultrasound

could be so hurtful. I hated and cried during the blood gas. I have

hidden veins and a weak pulse.

Anyway, I am off. I go in on Tuesday the 10th for surgery in Langhorn.

I can not wait. I have bought my protein mix, baby food, and clothes

items for the stay.

When ya was there in the hospital was there anything you wish you would

have brought with you? I feel like I am forgetting so much.

Thanks

Tina

Tina,

Sounds like you are good to go. Sorry the blood gas had to be so miserable.

For me the worst of all the pretesting was the Upper GI was the most unpleasant,

not painful mind you, but unpleasant. After taking in the pop rocks and then

the delightful drink, the tech had me roll 360 degrees on the table 3 times.

Then the Dr came in and asked if I would lie on my stomach, to which I answered

" not unless you would like your shoes to be white! " He compromised and allowed

me to keep the pressure off my tummy. Worst breakfast I ever had...LOL

As far as what to bring to the hospital, I found that I brought much more than I

needed. I had a book and some magazines...never touched them. If I wasn't

walking I was sleeping. I brought a bathrobe, but didn't need that either...it

was easier to use 2 hospital gowns. Toothbrush, toothpaste is ok, but they will

supply much of that if you need it, even shampoo, conditioner and soap. You

definitely want a pair of slippers with no-slip bottoms, the socks they have are

good when you are in bed, but not on the floor.

Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers.

>I am so sorry to scare you. I am a nurse and I give shots and draw

blood all the time. But I a a chicken when it comes to me. I actually

cried. The ladies were great and she kept saying talk to me. Tell me

about your girls, But if I would have spoke then I know I would said

Shut and Finish, before I kill you. I told her that when she finally

finished.

YOU will be fine. If i can do it so can you.

LOL I wouldn't have brought so much!!! I would wear the same clothes

home that you came in. If you have a pillow that you love bring that,

slippers, bathrobe (I hate hospital gowns!!) and hygiene items. The

hospital will supply you with a lot of things you will need.

I'm so excited for you!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs!!

Try not to panic. I know that needles can be horrifying, but for me the blood

gas test was not bad at all. A lot of it depends on who is drawing the blood

and how much experience they have doing it. Let them know about your

apprehension and request they they don't stick you more than once. If the first

person doesn't feel confident in getting it, there most likely is someone around

with more experience who can get it the first time.

I have heard some describe it as a bee sting, but for me it wasn't any more than

a pinch. Hang in there...can someone go with you when you have it done?
