Guest guest
Ann, I was told by Dr. Wood that he would see Jaden at the end of his 4 months of wearing the cap. I'm figuring at that time, he will have either grew out of it like Jax or Dr. Wood will assess his situation at that time. I questioned our OT today about the alignment of Jaden's ears. He has shearing on his right ear, and his right ear sits closer to his face than does his left. The OT said that this will not improve thru the CranioCap, while I could have sworn Dr. Wood told us it would. When I asked Steve, the OT, about using an active band instead of this passive one, he didn't know the terms I used and asked me " what's that? " . I was shocked. The questions I had for him on how the cap is fitting Jaden went unanswered for the most part, and he strongly encouraged me to speak w/ Dr. Wood about how the cap should perform, and the results we should be getting from it. I made Steve get out the tape measure, because I wanted to know if there had been some rounding (which I knew there was because I take pics of his little noggin every week), and I wanted numbers. Sure enough, his numbers increased, and Steve even said he could definately see the rounding out start. I thought that these bands can also correct symmetry if ears are crooked? I'll have to go look in the past posts, because I remember reading a recent post somewhere about ears not being aligned. Who posted that? Can anyone give me info on that again? I'd appreciate it. Thing is, if this CranioCap is not meant to help realign the face, ears, cheeks, etc.... then what good is it? You'd think if the plates in the head realign in a nice shape, the rest of the head will realign correctly also. Am I wrong on this? I'll be putting in a call to Dr. Wood to get answers. I do not want to have to go to CT for a DocBand. It's too far away. It's been 3 weeks now and I told Steve that Jaden should have settled in his Cap by now. He said " I'll be the judge of that " and shaved off a few more things to make a better fit, then told us not to use any lotion like the Aquaphor they reccommend because it's making it slide around on Jaden's head. In the beginning he TOLD us to use a lotion to help prevent skin breakdown, and w/ Jaden's eczema, I just don't want it to flare up, so I used it as a good preventative measure. Now he is telling us that another mother was in there today and said she was using Gold Bond Medicated Powder, said it helped decrease the sweat, but didn't let the band slide around. Ok, fine. I will try that then. But if his eczema flares up I'm gonna be ticked. Kim, I am very proud of the work you have done so far to get this awareness out to the health care facilities. I will be putting in a call to you at home to talk more about this and what I should be doing here on my end of town. Nice thing is that you and I both have the SMCD system here and there. I will take care of the Virginia hsptl up here and the one in Hibbing also, along w/ other area facilities and clinics. Ann was sick today so no PT for Jaden. We stopped by the camera place and I picked up a bunch more stickers for Jaden. Am decorating it tonite. He's sleeping w/ it off right now because Steve told me to wash it out w/ a mild detergent to get any oils out of there from the lotions I have been using on his head. So it's drying out right now. I am starting to question this man, because I feel that he is knowledgeable in some aspects, yet is hiding behind his little " Go team GO! attitude to provide a positive atmosphere for us. He could not answer WHY Jaden's soft spot was bulging and throbbing when his cap comes off, and said he's never seen this before. Another reason I will be contacting Dr. Wood. I need answers about how it IS and is NOT supposed to perform. And if Jaden's ears will realign. > Hi Ann, > Jaxson (my son) was in the helmet 12 weeks and 5 days.. his head > still was not " normal " though. He grew out of his CraniCap. Guest guest
Correction: Steve the OT told me the GOld Bond Medicated Powder was used to help mainly w/ the sweat but for the itching also. And that last post was by me, sorry I forgot to sign it. ~Amy, mommy to Jaden MN, plagio/mild tort, started CranioCap 4/23/04 > > > Hello again, > > > > > > I have been a little MIA lately, sorry.
