Guest guest
If you do your thyroid sublingually there are fewer problems with binding... most of this is in the gut.. by doing the glandulars, thyroid or adrenal, sublingually you get better absorption.... I do my iron and calcium about an hour before bed... and my last dose of thyroid when I go to bed... and still get the same effect... See, before I did a bedtime dose of thyroid I had 'mac truck hit me' syndrome when I woke up and did not sleep soundly.... so if the calcium and iron were negating the thyroid.. I'd have waking pain again... but am not... Guest guest
But if you take your thyroid sublinquilly (sp) it's not a problem......right? Re: Treating Hypothyroidism. Dr. Teitleb... Guest guest
You know, thinking about this binding thing. You know how I was taking it twice a day. Well, after the first few weeks of being on thyroid, I was feeling better so I stopped my Elmiron for awhile as an experiment. Thought maybe the thyroid would heal the bladder. But then I started getting symptoms around the time of my period again, so I thought " oops gotta go back on Elmiron because my bladder isn't cured yet. " So around that time, every morning when I woke up, I was taking my Elmiron (because you have to take it at least a couple hours before you eat and at least like 4 hours after you eat) and my thyroid. Taking them together. And then again in the late afternoon in- between meals. Maybe that is what I was doing wrong lately - maybe I was going hypo again in part because all or most of my daily dose was being bound up and carried out of my body by the Elmiron... So I will have to figure out where to put in food, because I need to talk Elmiron twice a day and I think my thyroid twice a day (or more often). Apparently it's probably not good for me to take them with each other, either. I was just thinking " oh I will take all my meds that can't be taken with food, together...get them out of the way so that there will be a few hours here and there during the day when I can eat... " Hmmm...okay today I'm not taking them together. Taking them far apart instead. See how that works. Gentle
Guest guest
If you can take the Thyroid sublingually that will negate many of the binding/absorption problems with that.. remember I dose 5 times per day with thyroid... 4 times per day with adrenal.. all of that sublingually... I eat 5 to seven mini meals a day... and do calcium and iron at night... to get extra of both of those in...... And I'm still getting hyper on what amounts to a relatively low dose of thyroid - considering my weight, the fact that my thyroid was killed off by RAI, and what other folks are taking....... So it can be done so that it all works together.... I even did an orange yesterday.. fresh fruit is a special treat for me... and to see that I didn't get the fructose kills they thyroid hormone thing going on.. I timed the eating of the orange to be 1/2 hour before a thyroid dose... first time in my life that I EVER got a got a rush off a piece of fruit.. and then get the sleepy/downs afterwards.... That was weird.. eating fruit was always a pick me up... just like having a caffeinated drink... but I would always have a slump a couple of hours later.. just a 'fact of life'.... this confirms what I read about the fructose effect on thyroid hormone ... the genetic TSH receptor defect I was born with or the fact that I have an awesome imagination. Gosh I wish that I could be a lab rat sometime.. to have blood draws during these tests to see what is happening chemically.. we still can't go totally by labs.... but it would be interesting to see if it does make a measurable difference and is not JUST perception. Loriann<<< ***If you take your thyroid meds sublingually, you may take your calcium, iron after 2 hours...that is safe. If you take your thyroid meds by swallowing, 4 hours is recommended.
