What an achievement! Way to Go, ! Christabelle

Big News!

Well, today is a red letter day for me! I finally

broke 350! I went to the freight scale yesterday,

and I was 351, so today, I tried it on the regular

scale, which only goes to 350, and I am 349.5!

Today is also 7 weeks since my surgery, so in the

7 weeks, I have lost 36.5 pounds!

Just wanted to share!

Warmly,

386/349.5/115

Hi Barbara! I had a gastric bypass on November 29th. That's

where they re-route your intestines onto a new, stomach pouch that is very

small.

Thanks for your kind thoughts!

Ha! Kari! I have a looooooong way to go to get to 190. My next

goal is to get under 300, which I estimate will be in another 10-12 weeks.

- I did some calculations and you would be at goal in 52 weeks if

you continue to lose at this pace! I realize that it is unrealistic to

lose 5.2143 lbs per week, but you are off to such a good start. The pounds

will continue to fall off!

Only the best to you,

Susie

Hi Barbara! I had a gastric bypass on November 29th.

Carnie was on one of those morning shows this morning showing what and how much she eats. I just can't get over her...she looks NOTHING like she did before...I never recognize her anymore. She was always very pretty (in fact I think her face is not as pretty but that could be makeup plus she has dark hair now). She says she is within a few pounds of her goal weight now.

Actually, Susie, it is not that unrealistic. The surgeon estimates

that I will lose 100 pounds in the first six months, and 20 pounds a month

thereafter. If you figure it out based on the calculations that Tink

posted the other day, at 386, I need about 5000 calories a day to maintain

my weight. I am eating between 1000 and 1200. So, if 3500 calories

equal one pound, I should be losing 7 pounds a week. So the 5 a week

or 20 a month is not that far-fetched. I am figuring that I will

lose 80% of my excess weight, or 216 pounds in the year, which would put

me at 150. But really, whatever it is, I am happy it is working.

And how is everything going with you?

Warmly,

just take into account there may be time where you plateau as your body adjusts to the rapid weight loss. My friend though has done amazingly well at 175 lbs in a year! I've heard people losing more . others less just depends on the person and where they started from... but you'll do great either way!

- I must have missed Tink's calculations. WOW!!!! Again, I am very

impressed.

Life is good, but extremely busy. I still can't get back on the Atkins

bandwagon. Actually, I believe my time management has been absolutely nil

lately. I need to sit down with DH and map out a menu and a plan. We have

such different schedules at our house with the kids activities. I am

planning a family meeting at 10 p.m. this evening to discuss several

items. #1 is planning dinner and sticking to it! I am tired of my kids

getting $5 to run to McD's or Subway for dinner. They can stay home long

enough to HELP prepare dinner and cleanup!

Plus, we need to discuss energy conservation; not because of need, but due

to cost. Our light/gas bill was $331 for the month of December. I realize

it was cold, but I have a new 90PlusI furnace that cut out

utilities by 25%. Just imagine the cost without the new furnace. Our house

is 3 levels and approximately 3300 sq. ft. My kids do not even think about

turning off the lights or shutting down the computer.

Enough moaning. I am truly, truly proud of you and everyone else that has

been successful on this list. You guys are the best!

Susie

Wow, that was pretty recent.

Do you mind answering some questions? I don't know anyone who's had

this done. The only ones I can think of and, I don't know them

personally are Roseanne and Carnie . They both look fantastic.

What was it like? Were you in a lot of pain? Where you in the hospital

long? Do you have scars? How do you feel now? Has it taken your

appetite away? Did the doctors recommend locarb? Please tell me all

about it if you don't mind. It must be so exciting to know that you

are going to loose now.

We probably won't recognize you in another year.

Barbara

Just so you know I also had gastric bypass surgery (rny) same as Roseanne

(she was the one that led me to it) in June of 99 I'm down 100 lbs and

feeling fine.

Not a lot of pain for me ..... I was in the hospital from Tues-Fri .. and my

incision was done open, 's was lap so for me I have one incision 4 "

long. can tell you about hers as it was done differently .. the same

surgery but just getting there differently.

As an 18+ month post op my appetite has come back although sometimes its

more mental I think. My doctor does recommend low carb as a post op diet so

Atkins is perfect.

Anyway .. I know you asked but since i'm an older post op LOL! I

wanted to throw in my 0.02 cts

Well - I'm trying. Would like to drop about 20# before our trip to New York at the end of April. High hopes, huh? Initially I lost about 35#, but gained a few (20!) back. I can't wait for the ice to melt around here so that I can tske HRD for our twice daily walks around the neighborhood. She could stand to drop a few, too! But she is so strong, and pulls me down occasionally, I'd prefer not to be in a cast or sling right now! Christabelle
