We still set this up in our hospital. The nurses and PT make sure that the

patients are getting the prescribed amount of time. We do not bill separately

for this. We do provide training to the nurses to make sure the patient is

getting the prescribed amount. Over the past few years, we have greatly reduced

the amount we use these.

Subject: CPM usage

Hello list -

I am working in the acute care setting and having difficulty with

CPM's. As you know, CPM set up etc. is no longer a billable service.

How are you all handling this? Has this service been handed over to

nursing? Did physical therapy provide this training and/or still

provides training? Does physical therapy continue to provide this

service/set up even though it is not a billable service?

Thanks for any input you may have to offer.

Our CPM's are put on by our recovery nursing staff. We inservice

proper application and follow with yearly clinical competency testing.

Pt's are responsible during hospital stay to make any ROM changes.
