Guest guest
Liz, I'm sorry, but I have not seen a clear cap like the one your daugher has. Can I ask why they don't use foam lining inside? Is it all plastic shell? How do they make adjustments as she grows? I am very curious, it's so unorthodox compared to all the other bands I have seen in the files. Please, no offense, but I am concerned for you and your little Paige. I would love to hear more about it. Guest guest
Liz, Paige looks so adorable in her helmet, and she looks happy, too! I don't think her cap is the Clarren, because the Clarren is opaque, covers the ears, and has a chin strap. Here is a link to Orthomerica's Clarren helmet: http://www.orthomerica.com/products/cranial/clarren.htm I don't know for sure, but Paige's helmet resembles the Orthomerica Starlight Cap or Starlight Side-Opening Band. Here are the links to those two types of helmets/bands: http://www.orthomerica.com/products/cranial/starlightcap.htm http://www.orthomerica.com/products/cranial/starlightband.htm I know we have had group members in Starlights before, so maybe you could ask your ortho to confirm! So how has the helmet fit been going for Paige? She sure looks fine with it in the photos! Thank you for posting them. Guest guest
She looks so cute! It does look like a Clarren. I believe that Orthomerica makes those (I think) so if you want more info about it you could check out their website. I think that they are cool because you can clean them more easily. Guest guest
It does have some foam lining in the back at the base of the helmet. It is all plastic with vent holes drilled in, the way they make adjustments is by applying heat and molding it in the direction it has to go. It's a weird material, they told me not to leave it in the car because it would turn into a puddle of gel. The ortho at Hanger uses this kind because he can see inside and tell if there is correction because the skin will press against it and turn white. She has been doing really well and has had no red spots which is something they told me to watch for. We go for adjustments every week for now but will eventually only have to come in every other week. The only thing I don't like about it is that we have to readjust the velcro because it keeps wanting to rotate which scrunches her one eye. I'm not thrilled with it but insurance talks and the ortho is really good.
