Guest guest
Hi Reading your mail makes me want to tell you that my son(and daughter) can not tolerate fruit yet. We have done the diet for 5,5 months. I wanted badly to give the children the fruits, bacause of the importance of carbs. My son (and later my daughter) ended up having diarrhoea and very bad bhaviour - like stolls all over the floor, toatal aggresivity etc. Etc. Elaine told me to go with what the children tolerate for now and then go slowly with the diet. So we are doing a very basic diet with meat and veggies. She told me,that as long as I supplement with the right vitamins(mentioned in the book - I should not worry about the carbs). Your sons diarrhea could be caused of different things - like someone else wrote to you. But maybe it would help to return to a more basic diet with meat and veggies and then see if the trophies return. A lot of children do fine with with the fruits - but some -like mine just cant tolerate them yet. I have learned the hard way - that what we are looking for is trophies, because this is when the children get what they need. I hope this can help you. Our diet is limited - I hope you can do more foods than us, but my children are doing good on this : Beef, chicken, duck, lamb, greenbeans (lots of them), leek, onion, garlic, ripe avocado, and goat-milk yoghurt (J. Only gets 1 teaspoon a day - gets several cups). Suppl.: Nu Thera(legal one), Cod liver Oil, Calcium, Magnesium, zink Best wishes Ulla Scheinemann, Denmar, SCD 5,5 months (8) ASD + seizures, SCD 5,5 months (7) ASD, SCD 5,5 months -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: Ray Wileman Sendt: 14. februar 2004 07:11 Til: pecanbread Emne: Diarrhea after starting the diet My 5 year old son with ASD has been on the SCD diet for approxiamately 8 weeks. He has had inconsistent bowels (prone to bouts of diarrhea) since he was 18 months. When we started this diet his bowels actually were more consistent (just soft). Now that he's on this diet, he's had diarrhea about 90% of the time. My question is .. Why after eliminating more foods does his bowels look worse? His mood and energy are fine. Could he not be tolerating the nuts? This is the only thing I can think of besides his supplements. He's pretty much living on eggs in the morning with either nutbread or nut pancakes and grape jello. Afternoon was Turkey slices, cooked pears, and nut mixture. Evening was chicken or beef, cooked veges and more cooked veges. Nut muffing for snack. Can anyone tell me where I'm missing the boat on this? It would be real helpful.
