Jeff-

Before you open up a huge response, maybe you should specify what outcome

data you're looking for.

It could be patient satisfaction, employee retention, referrer satisfaction,

clinical effectiveness or more.

I'm guessing you're looking for clinical outcomes, but I'm not sure.

Subject: outcome measurement tools

I would like to get some direction on the different outcome measurement

tools available. We are currently looking at the Lifeware program but we

would like to compare several programs based on ease of use/entry, patient

return, cost, etc...

Any suggestions or ideas are most welcome.

Thank you.

Jeff, we use TAOS/Care connections. Good data, easy entry, $500/year, you enter

the data. Many specialized reports available for $25 each in addition to the

standard reports that come with the annual subscription.

Jeff,

I sat in on an 'Open Door' session with Medicare last month that

pointed to the Activity Measure for Post Acute Care (AM-PAC) that will

be used in a pilot program to study an alternative payment system for

physical therapists.

" Portions of the AM-PAC will be used to develop the core functional

assessment component of the instrument. CMS plans to use the new

assessment instrument as the basis for payment to providers. "

The website is www.crecare.com and the cost is $250 per year for paper

forms and $600 for computer-based testing.

I use the OPTIMAL (copyright Cedaron Medical) because its FREE!

Available at www.apta.org .

Nevertheless, the cost of implementing an alternative, electronic

payment/outcomes system will ultimately be partly borne by providers

so you may as well get ahead of the curve.

By the way, any outcomes format can be used to dramatically improve

your Medicare chart compliance.

I provide free resources on using outcomes for Medicare compliance at

www.BulletproofPT.com .

The web-based version of the AM-PAC is available at www.pac-

metrix.com. This version provides benchmarked outcomes using the AM-

PAC instrument.
