Guest guest
It was for this very reason we stopped doing them. We tried every angle, and nothing worked. I would be interested to see if we missed anything Ron Barbato PT FCE cancel/no-show rate List, Hello everyone. We are currently looking at our cancel/no-shows for FCE's. We appear to be having a much higher cancel/no-show rate with this population than with our normal evaluations. Do any of you who do FCE's experience the same, and if so, have you found any effective way to reduce the no-show/cancel rate? Thank you Proffitt, PT OP Therapy Massillon, OH
Guest guest
Hi , I would recommend identifying the reasons for your CA/NS and then addressing them in preparation/expectations and even in your P & P manual. Different areas I know have had pretty good success mailing a letter to the client when the test is scheduled (what the test is/what is involved, how long, what to wear, reminder of test time, etc). Also, contacting the client ~48-72 hours prior and reminding them of the test has helped with consistent attendance and making sure that you ask/know about any other potential medical issues ahead of time (such as asking a client to come " any time " for a BP check prior to the exam if they have a history of HBP). With these and similar strategies, I have seen several clinics drop rates to levels comparable/lower than regular clinical cancel rates. Hope that helps, Dee Deirdre Daley, PT WorkWell Systems Southern Pines, NC List, Hello everyone. We are currently looking at our cancel/no-shows for FCE's. Guest guest
Our FCE no show/cancellation rates took a dramatic drop (improvement) after we discovered the same trend, then made some simple changes. 1st, we educated our front offfice staff to be very specific to the patients about the reason for the FCE & how important attendance is to the report (we include prior no show/cancellations in our reports). Our front office is good at explaining the length & purpose for the FCE. Secondly, we make it clear to the workers comp case mgr (or who Dr, etc....whoever is managing the case) that a no show or cancel may preclude the client from being able to reschedule any time soon, if at all. We never reschedule a FCE who cancels/no shows within 3 wks of the occurrence (just for the reason of confirming the importance of attending....even when the case mgr begs). We all know how much revunue is lost when an FCE appt is missed. Our cancel/no show rates for FCEs have been 5-8% for 6 years running. I must point out though, that we usually only have 15-20 FCEs per year, due to the non-industrialization of our geographic area. N. Guest guest
Just a curious question: How does PT clinics market to see FCEs? Also what are different max to min reimbursements for FCEs in general. Disability FCEs versus straight workers comp FCEs---is there any difference in reimbursements? If anyone wants to send me an email please do so. Thanks. Hiten Dave' PT HYPERLINK " mailto:hitendave@... " hitendave@...
