Guest guest
It is the gals in the doctors offices that get to me. The problem is that there are people making decisions that don't really have any idea what they are doing. They are clerks that work for the insurance companies. Trish.. I know that ruling about being homebound as a requirement. It is a legitimate ruling by Medicare. You may have a huge fight on your hands, but I think you can win since one of the qualifiers is that you cannot own property. I know you now live in housing for the disabled so this should be in your favor. I'm afraid the people that make these decisions are doing their jobs because the insurance carriers are trying to cut their costs and hire these people to do just that wherever they can. Trish.. Do you have a case manager? If not.. you need to demand one. I got one when I bought the HMO I have here and it has been a tremendous help in getting things that I need. Guest guest
I am trying to find a local doctor who can take care of monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, etc. and finally got an appointment the middle of May to see her for the first time. I think I found one Laurie. She's my primary care physician here and has told me she can handle all these problems. She's about 15 minutes away and I'm hoping that this works out. I was doing the same thing in RI...and when it became difficult to impossible for me to drive due to this ataxia, I had to cancel many appointments. I know exactly what you mean. Guest guest
Trish You are entitled to ramble on about anything you want, just like the rest of us. I sure wish you didn't have to deal with all the insurance junk. I often feel like this kind of stuff is controlling my life more than the mito. At least with the mito, I can take ownership if I overdo or something. All the red tape leaves me frustrated no end. I agree that it is very stressful for us. I don't even have much trouble with insurance. It is the gals in the doctors offices that get to me. See, I can grumble too. Please let us know what the doctor says about the pain. laurie > > Dear Laurie: > > I am also so sorry that you have not been doing so well. > > I don't know if this has anything to do with weather changes or not, but all > I know is that I feel a lot weaker and have a lot of pain. Guest guest
Laurie, I am sorry you have trouble with the ladies in the office. That must be hard to deal with everytime you go to see the doctor. Have you complained to the doctor about it? You shouldn't have to deal with that ever. Guest guest
Belinda I guess it wouldn't bug me so much if I weren't also trying to work. It is things like having to make long distant calls three days in a row to get the correct message to the doctor. They seem to think I have nothing to do but sit by the phone for days on end. I am trying to find a local doctor who can take care of monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, etc. and finally got an appointment the middle of May to see her for the first time. Please keep your fingers crossed that the mito doesn't scare her and I can work with her. The driving over an hour each way when sick has really gotten to me this year. I have talked to the doctors and haven't seen that it has done much good. I was telling Lilsis that maybe we should be picking our doctors by the office staff and not the doctor. Thanks for your concern. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Thu, 28 Mar 2002 01:34:22 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: insurance woes > > Laurie, > I am sorry you have trouble with the ladies in the office. Guest guest
Dear Alice: I have a case manager but she is with Blue Cross and of course they want me to stay with them as secondary because I pay them almost $400.00 a month. I talked to her today and she said I should stay with what I have, but she doesn't know what happened with the homehealth aid thing....I am going to have to call her back tomorrow. Thanks for caring so much. Guest guest
Laurie, It does seem often times that if you find a good doctor the staff is rotten or vice versa. I will keep my fingers crossed that you find the doctor that you need closer to home. I know what you mean about having to travel an hour or more away. I have to do this also. I guess that is what I get living in a rural area though. God bless you, Belinda > >> Trish > >> > >> You are entitled to ramble on about anything you want, just like > > the rest of > >> us. Guest guest
Laurie, I am sorry hon if I said something wrong. I want you to find a primary care physician closer to home also. I had one closer to home also but found out I would have to travel because even though I had been to him for years he did not believe me when I told him my problems. He had sent me to a doctor who didn't believe me so he thought it was all in my head. Thankfully, I found a doctor who did and told me to find another GP. He told me I didn't need a doctor like that which is true. I know sometimes I say things that can be misconstrued. So Please Forgive Me if you thought I was being insensitive. I didn't mean to sound like that because I am not. I thank you for you kindness and I only want the best for you also. Guest guest
Belinda I must have said something that made you feel bad. You have not been insensitive, but just the opposite - always friendly and supporting. I think it was my frustration coming out. I have had so many infections this year and the realization that I don't even have a doctor on staff at the local hospital has brought home the need for someone local. I probably should have done this long ago, but I just hate breaking in new doctors. The PCP that I have been going to was local and moved an hour away, so I continued with him rather than start the looking process again. I will find someone and hope it will happen on the first try. If not, I'll keep looking. I'm really sorry that I made you feel bad. I guess I should read my posts before sending them. I am like you. I try not to hurt others. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 09:58:22 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: insurance woes > > Laurie, > I am sorry hon if I said something wrong. Guest guest
Laurie,. I know you don't hurt others. I was just afraid that I had something wrong to you. Enough said though.
