Guest guest
Just got a new excalibur dehydrator. I would like to make some " vegetable only " crackers (no dairy, no egg, no fruit and no tomato). I could use sunflower seeds/butter and pecans, the only nut my son tolerates. I tried making up something today but it is not drying the crunchy way, it is breaking into crums. Does anyone know about a good recepie that works? I could do a lot of input on how to use the machine! Thanks so much. Ale mom of Joshy 3 yo and 7 mo SC

Guest guest
I have to agree with this one. Us cooking challenged individuals just about need visual cues for these types of things!!! I know it's alot for one person to be updating the site (like you don't have other thingsto do), but it would much help to those of us (me) who are challenged!!! Guest guest
Hi , Here's what I do when I make onion and garlic powder: 1.) Preheat dehydrator (turn on five minutes before adding food) 2.) Peel, then cut onion and garlic in thin slices. 3.) Place on dehydrator trays, but not to close together. Air needs to circulate for proper dehydrating. 4.) If yours has a vent open it all the way to allow moisture to escape. 5.) As you come closer to completion you can close up the vent partially or all the way. The vent should still be opened for a few minutes during the last few hours of drying. 6.) When dry (the length of time will depend on the thickness of the food and the power of your dehydartor) remove from dehydrator. 7.) I place the dried onion and garlic in glass bottles whole and grind it to a powder as needed. I also keep separate bottles of garlic and onion ground ground into bits that won't clump the same as if ground to a powder. Hope this helps.
