Guest guest
Hi Everyone ... In my last post, I told you about the Lake business outing I was headed off to this past week. Thought I'd give you an update .... I did pretty well .... my successes included: - packing along a sandwich for the bus trip up. When everyone else was in the Thruway rest stop at Roy or Bob's Big Boy, I was munching on my FF Turkey on Light Bread. I also brought along some low-point snacks and managed to avoid all the donuts and bagels the group brought along on the bus. - as mentioned , there was some significant R & R time available on this trip - I used some of this time to do a workout in the gym, and some of my colleagues on I got in 2 hours of racquetball midday-Thursday. - breakfasts - I avoided the french toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled egg buffet and was quite happy with the high-fiber cereal and almonds that I had packed and taken along and a bowl of fresh fruit from the buffet (this was the second breakfast). The first I was happy with the fruit, 1/2 bagel and a Tbsp. Cream Cheese. - dinners were the most challenging - the first night we had a New England style clambake event. I went heavy on the salad and veggies (although these were done in butter (it was a buffet, so I couldn't order special). I had a small piece of baked chicken & some roast potatoes. The second night, at the 5-star restaurant, I decided not to be shy about the way I wanted things --- I asked for the salad dressing on the side and the salmon cooked without butter or other sauces. It was delicious. I avoided desserts (like the chocolate bomb) and had apples I had picked up in the health club. - Thursday, I all but skipped lunch (just an apple and some high-fiber cereal) because I was so busy and Friday, I picked at the box lunch we brought back on the bus. - I got plenty of water in. All-in-all, I was a little over my points on the first day, a little under (if you count AP's) on the seond and a little under on the third. I had some banked points from earlier in the week, so I did OK. I also posted after my last weigh-in that despite a ton of exercise and staying OP, I had stayed the same. Well. I'm pleased to say that all the hard work has paid off. At this morning's weigh in I was down 4.4 for a total of 51 pounds. I started WW after I had dropped the first 25 pounds, so I just earned my 10% award today as well. It's all good ...... {-) Thanks, Mitch --- Challenge this week - corporate resort meeting Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 15:52:12 -0400 Reply-To: Serious-Weight-Watchers To: serious-weight-watchers <serious-weight-watchers > All, So my challenge this week is a corporate gathering at a resort in Lake , NY. We did the same thing last year, so I mostly know what to expect: It starts with a bus ride up (4-5 hours) on Wednesday. They'll have bagels, donuts, and " what-not " on the bus. We'll stop for lunch at one of those highway rest areas with the fast food places.... Wednesday night's event will be a New England Style clambake on the beach .... Thursday and Friday morning will be business meetings and full buffet breakfasts (where I'm pretty confident that I can deal with fruit and cereal or maybe a 1/2 bagel type selection). Thursday night is the formal meal in the fancy restaurant (on resort premises)with all the gourmet dishes - lots of sauces, rich food, .... Lunches on Thursday or Friday are probably casual dining affairs in the less formal restaurant at the resort - or maybe a box-lunch to take back on the bus with us on Friday.... I have some strategies in mind for how to handle this and I will bring a selection of Fruit and low-point snacks with me to help me stay OP. There will be some significant R & R time on this trip - and they do have a gym which I plan to take advantage of. I'd be interested if others have some further suggestions. My weigh-in is Saturday morning and I want to maintain my focus.
