Guest guest
Hello Keisha. Here's a summary of most of us. First, most of us were once on T4-only meds. And now, most of us are on Armour natural thyroid. A few very lucky ones started right out on Armour, or natural thyroid. Armour comes from pig thyroid, and contains the exact same substances your own thyroid would be producing, T4, T3 T2, T1 and calcitonin. And most of us feel a lot better on this. A few here are on synthetic T4 and synthetic T3, like yourself. We are just as glad to have them here. If you use labs to treat yourself, you are looking to get your free T3 to the top of the range, if not slightly higher. At this point, it is common to have a TSH below one. Mine, for example, is .009 on an optimal dose. And my free T3 is above the top. This is not hyper when you are being treated. Even better is to treat by symptoms, NOT labs. Your brain fog will go away when you find your personal optimal dose. For some, that is within weeks. For others, a few months. Hope that helps. Janie aka ThyroDiva I was wondering are any of you on those two meds >? or one of them? >what exsperinces have you had with them? How long until you feel >better? How about weight loss? How much and how long did it take to >lose it? Any side effects? and How long until this (lovely) brain >fog goes away?? lol--
Guest guest
--- In NaturalThyroidHormones , Keisha > On thanksgiving my doc gave me the great new that I was hypo and he decided to put me on synthroid.. 100mg! I noticed that I was starting to feel better but not 100%. I still had my daily naps and feeled drained- I did do and still do my daily walks-- that helps me alot- I did noticed my weight going down slowly-- I weight 250 pounds- Or I did in Nov..I recently ( two weeks ago) told doc to put me on a t3 also, so I can see if I can start to feel 100%- well I have noticed a big change- I do feel better and I do have more energy and I have basically seen my weight ( melt) off of me-- ( Not literly) I would say I feel maybe 80 percent better now. Not all the way just yet= Doc put me on cytomel 25 mg.. I was wondering are any of you on those two meds >? or one of them? what exsperinces have you had with them? How long until you feel better? How about weight loss? How much and how long did it take to lose it? Any side effects? and How long until this (lovely) brain fog goes away?? lol-- > TAKE CARE-KEISHA Hi Keisha....I was on both synthroid and cytomel about 11 years ago...the one thing I want to stress that I found out is that cytomel is VERY short-lived...it helped, but it was not consistent, unless I cut my doses into 1/4's and took on every 1-1/2 hours...I was able to do this, because I was taking 2 of the 25 mcg daily with my 200mcg synthroid. I would take 1/2 in the am with my synthroid and 1/4 every 1-1/2 hours after that. I think now they do make a timed release cytomel. What would be great is if you could get Armour natural thryoid instead..this gives both (plus toher things your body needs) and seems to work so much better...it did for me and has for MANY others - you need a doc who is open to prescribing Armour for you...with hypothyroidism...the slow metabolism sucks...you can't lose weight with it, but once your dose is optimized and provided you start dieting in a way you feel works for you, the weight will start to come off as your metabolism gets more normalized...lots of luck, darlin...I live near Chicago. diana
