Thank you God! I had a client who had that and told me it is genetic....she said even the thinner women in her family had them...but what I gathered from what she told me is that this is the place the women in the family family carries weight earlier than most...you know, like some women are bigger in the hip area, put weight on in the thighs first, or have skinny legs, but bigger tummies or distribute extra weight evenly....this girl had planned to have something done surgically to hers...but it wasn't horrible, just yes...I know what you mean. Guest guest
Buffalo hump is a classic symptom of Cushings not thyroid Re: weight related Q --- In NaturalThyroidHormones , " immlach " > I know one form of hypothyroid can cause a " buffalo hump " on the base > of the neck, but what about this arm thing? > I have seen a bunch of overweight people, and hardly any have these > weird arms. > Anyone else experience this or know about it? > ps- thankfully, due to diet and exercise and maybe even the Armour, > my " wings " are way smaller than 2 years ago!!!!! Guest guest
I'm wondering... someone with adrenal fatigue has a tendency to gain weight in the upper back.. often referred to as a hump... mine was bad enough to make it uncomfortable to lay on my back in bed.. it would push my neck out of alignment and cause head, neck and shoulder pain... In just a few months after starting adrenal supplements.. mine is gone..... Wonder if it's the same thing? I even fit in a woman's shirt now... I'm lost that many inches in that area where my shoulders will now fit in a woman's top...... I've been working really hard on toning exercises for my upper arms... so far so good.. the skin is shrinking along with the reduction of fat.. I'm not getting flaps there... but I'm having noticeable problems with loose skin on the insides of my thighs and my belly... and a little bit at the base of my neck... as multiple chins are slowly turning back to one.. I'm finding loosening skin along my collar bone.... I'm > finding loosening skin along my collar bone.... > > Topper () I was reading people who questioned loose skin after stomach reduction and loss of 100 lbs or more..and they said that skin elasticity is somewhat genetic and also takes time but can return to normal without surgery in some people - and of course, the younger you are, the more likely it will happen faster. But, if you think about the fact that within 7 years, every cell in our bodies is replaced with new ones (except the brain) that also gives a little hope to things returning with time...we aren't the same person we were 7 years ago!! I have heard of pain in the upper back, neck/collar area with hypothyroid...my son had it terribly...wonder if that also has something to do with lack of proper circulation, etc in that area??? Guest guest
Hello Topper, I think the loose skin is because you are losing all of that weight! the younger we are when we lose the tighter the skin draws up after weight loss...give it time...it will get better. Keep excercising the inner thigh the muscle will burn more calories and it looks so much nicer under skin than bones! :-) You are doing great....I just smiled so big when you told of your goals for excercise in the future....I wish we lived closer cause I would like to join you! :-) Keep up the great work, Loriann > shrinking along with the reduction of fat.. Guest guest
when there is large weight loss after stretching the skins so far, it will never shrink much if you are past 45. I spoke to a doctor. I am 49, have 100 to lose. he said just get used to it or have it pulled, but even then it is a major surgery. Guest guest
Come up with some similar goals.. then we can compare how we are doing... heheheeh I'm so looking forward to it... I just drool thinking about that luscious can of Mtn Dew.. and it will be ONLY a can, even though that is the most expensive... If I can get to the point of going the 2 1/2 miles into town.. I'll be stopping at that gas station for a 2 liter and a sandwich!!! hehehhe then I'll rest and do the 2 1/2 mile back... Don't know if I'll make that this year..... Last year it was a challenge to get to the bathroom about 20 feet away... so I've come a long way already, I think!!! I'm doing a lot of stretching and moving and massaging, in addition to the light weights... getting my body to remember all the parts of itself...gosh it's sounds dorky to put it in writing like that... but something tells me that when your body is messed up for a long time and struggling just to do everyday things, like digest food or to sleep.. that it forgets some of the basic things and needs to be reminded a bit that there are some other maintenance issues that it can start checking into working on... I'm losing weight AND building muscle.. so stuff is rearranging under my skin to... the muscle is carried higher and tighter than the fat.. and the skin is all of a sudden not needed in places.. in a way.. it's kinda fascinating to watch.. when I get around the paranoia I have about looking like a 6 week old Shar Pei! I look totally weird when I'm messing with my neck.... I got teased doing that in the kitchen the other day..... but heck.. the more I draw my body's attention to an area.. the sooner it might get things moving in the right direction!!! Guest guest
I'm still trying to go into this with a positive spirit... we're hypo... every thing else in our physical selves has been moving in slow motion... so if he says 45 for a normal person... maybe it's 55 for us????? I'm 46... and just gonna concentrate on encouraging my body to be healthy.. to remind it of it's own power.... Our bodies are pretty miraculous... look at what they've already survived!!!!!
