Guest guest
Alice, I know exactly what you mean. I look way better than I did, but I am still a very heavy person. I keep losing the same weight over again. If it was all cumulative, I would be at my first goal of 150. However, it's not and I am 185, down from 210 when I started eighteen months ago. And it is because I have just blown it for a few weeks and I gain ten lbs. and am back at it again. This year I want to stay on Atkins. I will be happy with a slow steady loss, if I can only keep it off. I say you have to do what makes you feel your best. If you look and feel ok, then heck, be at your goal and maintain it. If not, then like me, you have to find a way to continue to lose. Exercise is also key, i believe. Good luck in whatever you choose. One thing that is important, and I fail at it miserably, is NOT to use this stuckness to beat ourselves up. corky corky Question What is it that comes over us that makes us get 'fed up' with this woeevery so often and makes us throw caution to the wind and eat stupidstuff? the scale hasn't moved in weeks and I'm so bored with the foodthat I can't think of anything that sounds good let alone cookinganything~I guess I'm bored with it and that is dangerous cuz I'll eatsomething I think I am craveing and it doesn't even taste good so it'sall a waste of time cuz then I feel quilty ~ just a vicious circle~ I'vebeen on Atkins for 2 yrs now with only 6weeks off to try another diet tojump start Atkins after 10mos with no loss,it worked, but now nothing~ Ilook 100% better than I did so maybe I should just accept this size andbe glad of it, [which I am]~ I wanted to get to 150 and am at 170 andwas at 204 when I started~I'm 5'2, what do y'all think? should I justtry to maintain now and not worry so much about loseing 20lbs. more? Guest guest
It sure gives one motivation to see the scales go down. I know juts from this morning I have stayed legal. And if those scales had gone up I would have bought some junk, not too much but a little and then again we did not go to Mom's tonight so I was not tempted to eat her cookies. And You are firm as you have been exercising. Some times think of the weight that our athletes carry. They are up there a bit but firm. So be there and be proud. And give your self a rest maybe and stay on OWL/ remember Sandy and her horse Spike. She is doing good maintaining these days and also watches her calories and what she eats. Have a rest but not a gain. You deserve it Norma

Guest guest
I do think there is one advantage to the fact that we all got fat in the first place. We wouldn't have all found each other if we hadn't!
Guest guest
Hi Alice, I know exactly what you mean!! I live alone and don't " have " to cook for anyone and I'm finding it much too easy to just snack instead of eating a proper meal. (It doesn't help that the past 2 weeks have been * & $% at work either.....15 minute lunches and all). I did manage to throw a roast in the crockpot the other day, but most of it is still sitting in the fridge. I still haven't excercised with any regularity since I moved in October. Any wonder the last 5 lbs won't go away? But one good motivator is a very likely beach trip in March that my boss wants to send the staff to. Hmm.....maybe I will hit the treadmill today. I really want to take up rollerblading when it warms up some, although it will be in the fifties today, maybe I should try it today.... Guest guest
Alice.....you hit the nail on the head.....the answer to your question is BOREDOM. I have been on ATkins (on and off) since 1997 and I absolutely go berserk with boredom....Kari will have a good lecture for me on that, I am sure, but that is the reality of it. Just be careful! I gained 25 pounds being bored. Joya
Guest guest
Thank you for that information. I am scheduled for blood work in three months. I have a call into the Dr as I write this. I have had the ultrasound on my neck arteries and they are clear, but it was done before this new Dr took over the practice. I also have had the test where they go through the groin (cant remember the name) and those were clear also. I am not taking any more. I have had a headache for to long. Guest guest
I HAD a doctor that prescribed lipitor for me because my cholestrol was 250. They called me to say it was high and go pick up my presciption. I picked it up and then got mad. They did not bother talking to me about diet or exercise. Nor did they bother to tell me the possible side effects. They did not bother to call me for an entire year to see if I was doing OK with the drug, or to get me to come have blood work done to check to make sure I was not having liver problems due to the drug. The medical profession dispenses presciption drugs as though they will cure things....They don't . The pills they prescribe mask symptoms. I found a new Dr. certified in nutrition. I told him what the former DR. had done. He said I can tell you in five minutes is you need lipitor. I said "great". He did an ultra sound of the arteries in my neck which were absolutly clear and running fine. Then we talked diet and exercise......Eating oatmeal will reduce your cholestrol....so will beta glucan...Check the book Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Quillin. He has been the nutritionist at the Cancer Center of America....georgiaJeana wrote: Has anyone here taken lipitor?? If so have you had a problem with it?. Guest guest
I only take 10mg. I am still waiting on the darn doc to call me
Guest guest
Jeana Yes! I take Lipitor. I'm now at 20 mg. a day and it gives me headaches, so with the permission of my nurse practitioner I am chopping them in half and just taking 10 mg. a day, and don't have any more problem with headaches. (I started it in 2002 at 10 mg. when I was obese with hypertension, but no diabetes, arrythmias, or cancer. At the onset of diabetes in January 2004 my doctor took me off Lipitor to make room for other meds. Then, in August 2004 another doctor put me back on it at 20 mg. a day saying it had such benefits besides lowering cholesterol that I should have it.) Janie > > Has anyone here taken lipitor?? Guest guest
Georgia I have had both my cartaroid (sp?) arteries (in the neck) sonogrammed and an echo/heart cath and everything is clear, but still am prescribed lipitor which I was thankful for because it's supposed to have " other benefits " . One young doctor, I think, did put me right: He said, it's debatable that you should take it because it lowers cholesterol but not triglycerides and though you have liver in fine condition you have enough meds going through it. I really don't know whether to go off it or not. I've lost a lot of weight, am now dieting for cancer, diabetes and to lose the rest of my weight and doing very well. At the moment my fat levels are all beautiful. I think I might wing it for a while and then let them test me. See what happens. Janie > Has anyone here taken lipitor?? Guest guest
Georgia The only one I can recall is that it somehow strengthens the arteries. Maybe it increases the good HDL's a little. I guess I should find out at the next doctor's visit end of Nov.
