Guest guest
I just spoke to Dr Krigsman and he told me that my son's cold could be making his colitis flare up and also could cause an acidic environment in the poop. I had no idea about that. He says that mANY people with colitis, crohns have problems when they get colds. He suggested a cream with hydrocortizone for a couple of days. karen
Guest guest
My daughter is 9 yrs. old and has had a rash off and on like that since she was a baby. I feel it comes from all the food allergies. She seems to have it more when she eats tomatoes. It can also come from constipation which causes a back-up and more bacteria problems. If they stay regular it doesn't seem to be as prevalent. My daughter started Sulfazalazine about two weeks ago and her rash seems better! She is always red in between her legs though. I feel like that comes from all the problems with yeast too. I used to use a product that you can order from the pharmacy (no prescription needed) called " calmoseptine " and it is much better than any OTC rash cream you can buy. You may want to cut out the tomato products for a few weeks and see if it gets better. Good luck! Kathy Hudson, NC (new to diet) mom of Abby, 9 yrs. Guest guest
http://www.dermnetnz.org/index.html I don't know if the rashes are the same, but breaks out on her bottom too and it had spread up her tummy and down her legs pre-SCD. Her rash can also turn into some nasty boils. I have been looking around trying to figure this out as it's a common problem with DS AND lichen sclerorus which is an auto-immune problem that is exacerbated by yeast. When she was first dx with the LS she had this rash and the dermatologist said it was folliculitis. So.. In reading on boils come to find out that it can start out as folliculitis and progress to a boil. Folliculitis can be caused by YEAST, which also makes sense cause it normally heralds a flare of the LS too. To read more, follow the link on top and check out both boils and folliculitis. I have been following their recommendations and so far so good! Course keeping the yeast under control works the best, but sometimes due to circumstances beyond my control, it gets the upper hand. Guest guest
My kiddo stayed this way from 6 months old until last week - hers was yeast, when you say it's pimply, somewhat raised, and it's red and burns like the dickens, I would think yeast. It could be an allergy to food, but for my kiddo it was yeast all 1683 times. Karyn, Mom to 4.1, dx autism, GF/CF, SCD 2 weeks rash on butt, any ideas? My son has been on SCD for about a month now. Guest guest
Hi , Until his bm's clear up it might be a good idea to give him more basic foods for a few days. So that would mean peeling and cooking the apple - baked or applesauce. (That's if you are giving it to him raw now) and probably leave out the carrot chips also. Of course chicken soup is wonderfully healing if he'll eat it When my kids have a rash I give them either a baking soda bath or an epsom salt bath. If it is really bad I put a little zinc oxide cream on it (don't know if you can use that). I hope he is feeling better soon.
