Hi, Topper,

I have been thinking about this and have come to this

conclusion... There are two things that are being achieved with your

current regimen. First, you are getting a near-normal dose of thyroid

hormones to achieve good results. Second, by taking them periodically over

the course of your waking hours, you are supplying those hormone and other

things in as near the same manner as the body would need and provide them

that there are no " slump " responses or they are limited. You have said

that you " know " when to take the next dose. You are more aware of your

body than many people ever will be, so be thankful for that sensitivity and

keep moving forward! You go, girl!

On a personal note, you are willing to deal with what is needed to

perform your multi-dosing and still pursue other activities, that is not

true for many of us. I for one wondered where I would find the time. As

it happens, I have been following your progress, and have decided that if

you can do this, then I should at least give it a try. I have my pill

boxes nearby and I have gone so far as to set timers to remind myself to

take my next dose. It is working!

For the past week, I have been able to maintain my dosing schedule

and still get the things done that need doing without forgetting the meds

or what I was doing! Hallelujia! But I am going to change that. I will

take a 1/2 grain upon rising. I will take the second 1/2 grain five hours

later. I will take that final tiny 1/4 grain five hours after that. I

know that on a daily basis, I am feeling better. I have not been back to

the doctor to have labs drawn and won't see him again until later in

February after I have been on that new 1/4 increase for a month. I tried

taking that 1/4 grain at 1 pm after taking the first 2 grains in the

morning and it worked, but not as well as I had hoped Since I am not

changing the amount, only the spacing of it, I figure that I will be able

to give the doctor something to think about, too.

I decided to change my meds schedule based on the good results you

were having. After all, you don't even have a working Thyroid anymore and

I have one that is steadily stopping operation. My doctor does propose

having me stop my meds for awhile and getting another scan done, but I put

him off. I do not have a goiter problem and no problems with swallowing

(unless I have a sore throat like now). My thyroid cannot even be felt on

palpation because it is not in the " standard " location. It is nestled

behind my collar bones. We found that out with my last scan in 1997.

So regardless of what my be clinically irregular about your

medication regimen, you are getting good results and that is what counts.

Just feel glad and proud to have figured out what works for you!

Topper..I am sooo happy for you...I just have to smile when I read your

emails....I know how playing in the snow can be very exhausting and now you come

in

and do chores too! WTG! I remember several years ago our dear friends

bought a place on the colorado river and invited us up for the weekend...we

spent

the day on wave runners and in their jet boat and when we got back..I was so

tired...but my friend said ok..what should we cook up for dinner..I'm thinking

I'm so tired.I just want to go to sleep....Of course I helped with dinner and

then afterwards she is doing the dishes..and again..I'm so tired I hated myself

for not wanting to do dishes too! But Of course I helped anyway..but thought

to myself..why am I so tired and she seems to have the energy to keep a

perfect house cook a wonderful meal and keep her kids so neatly dressed too! On

the

other hand I struggled to do half of those things. I guess now that I've

tried the 240 mg of armour and know how I can feel I never want to go back to

being tired and kicking myself calling myself lazy....no, now I know that it was

the hypothyroidism keeping me down all the time! We've come a long way baby!

:-)

Blessings,

Loriann
