Guest guest
, My younger son was on Neoctate when he was young. He actually hated it. He drank just barely enough to stay alive. He was on it for 8 months and didn't grow or gain weight during that period probably because he wouldn't actually drink enough of it. Maybe they have improved the taste since then. (It was 3 1/2 years ago.) It is a corn based formula and illegal on SCD. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 1 year
Guest guest
What do you give a child that is an infant with the same gut issues then? Dr Hulseman said that the Neocate was a hypoallergenic formula and okay to use? Lost as to why she recommended it if it's bad??! Also, what do I ask about the ingredients on the cheese? Supposed to be calling the dairy back in 30 minutes to speak with someone about it! (mom to and SCD 7 days) > , > > My younger son was on Neoctate when he was young. He actually hated > it. Guest guest
Ps.... There is the infant formula in BTVC however it states to not use that for more than a few days, so that is out as far as a formula to use for an extended period of time .... Ugh ... my brain hurts. (and 's mom SCD 7 days) > My grandparents found " Farmer Cheese " at Meijers. However, I thought > that Farmer Cheese is hard? This stuff they found and got is the > same consistency of normal deli cheese, and was obtained at the > deli. Does anybody know about the " Stettler Farms " brand of farmer > cheese? It's in a long tube like shape about the size of a medium > take-out cup. I found the phone number of the Stettler dairy, but I > wasn't sure what exactly to ask them to be sure it's legal??? > > Also, we are giving our youngest the Neocate formula due to the fact > that he has the gut issues too. Guest guest
, There is a recipe for SCD baby formula in the back of BTVC. I would suspect that Dr. Hulseman recommended Neocate because it is the only non-soy, non-milk formula that I have ever heard of. This is the ingredient list for Neocate: " Corn Syrup Solids (56%), High Oleic Safflower Oil (11%), Refined Vegetable Oil (Coconut 6%, Soy 3%), L-Lysine L-Glutamate (2.8%), Calcium Phosphate Dibasic (2.4%), and less than 2% of each of the following: (list of vitamins/minerals, etc) " The corn syrup is illegal. Perhaps you could use the infant formula from BTVC and add the needed vitamins/minerals/amino acids in a spoonful of apple or pearsauce with each bottle you feed him. I would really talk to Dr. Hulseman about it. I am sorry that I am not much help with the Farmer's Cheese. We don't do cow dairy products and I have never even seen legal farmer's cheese in person (since I have never looked for it). Hopefully someone who uses it will be able to help you with it.
