My younger son was on Neoctate when he was young. He actually hated

it. He drank just barely enough to stay alive.

He was on it for 8 months and didn't grow or gain weight during that

period probably because he wouldn't actually drink enough of it.

Maybe they have improved the taste since then. (It was 3 1/2 years ago.)

It is a corn based formula and illegal on SCD.

What do you give a child that is an infant with the same gut issues

then? Dr Hulseman said that the Neocate was a hypoallergenic formula

and okay to use? Lost as to why she recommended it if it's bad??!

Also, what do I ask about the ingredients on the cheese? Supposed to

be calling the dairy back in 30 minutes to speak with someone about

it!

Ps.... There is the infant formula in BTVC however it states to not

use that for more than a few days, so that is out as far as a formula

to use for an extended period of time ....

Ugh ... my brain hurts. :(

There is a recipe for SCD baby formula in the back of BTVC.

I would suspect that Dr. Hulseman recommended Neocate because it is

the only non-soy, non-milk formula that I have ever heard of.

This is the ingredient list for Neocate:

" Corn Syrup Solids (56%), High Oleic Safflower Oil (11%), Refined

Vegetable Oil (Coconut 6%, Soy 3%), L-Lysine L-Glutamate (2.8%),

Calcium Phosphate Dibasic (2.4%), and less than 2% of each of the

following: (list of vitamins/minerals, etc) "

The corn syrup is illegal.

Perhaps you could use the infant formula from BTVC and add the needed

vitamins/minerals/amino acids in a spoonful of apple or pearsauce with

each bottle you feed him.

I would really talk to Dr. Hulseman about it.

I am sorry that I am not much help with the Farmer's Cheese. We don't

do cow dairy products and I have never even seen legal farmer's cheese

in person (since I have never looked for it).

Hopefully someone who uses it will be able to help you with it.
