Guest guest
Hey Pete, That is good news since I love lemon in my ice water anyway :-) I still have the foam though. Maybe I need to up the lemon.
Guest guest
For a complete rejuvenation of the urinary system, try lemon & Barley water, at least 3 times a day!! This is something passed on through the generations. A bit like our Australian Aboriginal Elders passing on their wisdom to this generation. If you don't notice a difference after one week I would be very suprised. I am not taking any medication though! Sincerely, Pete. Guest guest
Many years ago, someone told me to boil celery leaves and then drink the liquid. Good for the kidneys they said. I did, and I was sick like a dog for 2 days. Guest guest
I certainly cannot vouch for the celery leaves! But I do know that Ghandi (during the British occupation of India) was almost at the stage of Kidney failure, following a long fast. And it was the good old lemon water which brought him back from the brink!!! But of course, he would not have been taking pharmaceutical medicines either!! Natural remedies, do not mix with un-natural remedies!!!! Pete. " Pierre L (groups) " wrote: Many years ago, someone told me to boil celery leaves and then drink the liquid. Guest guest
my wife a terminal and palliative care nurse informs me that large doses of vitamin C are used to treat kidney patients who are just about to peg out, they don't know why it works but it gives the kidneys a last gasp. Prolonged use of vitamin C in big doses can also lead to kidney stones, something too horrible to comprehend in my book would be stones and IgAN. Lemon juice in my case lays me up in bed with a blinding migraine that will last for up to three days and has no effect whatsoever on the albumin in my urine. beware of applying logic to anecdotal results... > From previous igan information------I learnt that foam in the urine indicated that the kidneys were deteriorating. > Well I have now learnt that freshly squeezed lemon juice, consumed > several times a day in a hot water drink, eliminates foam, appearing in the urine. Guest guest
Luckily, lemon is one citrus that isn't too high in potassium - good for those who have problems in that department. Keep in mind that potassium is additive though, so if one lemon is Ok, 10 wouldn't Pierre Re: Anti-aging of the kidneys! > Well, if you think that might work (im willing to try anything as of > now)-I am putting lemons on my grocery list! > - > >
Guest guest
For the less experienced among us: You can't judge anything about kidney function from the presence or absence of foam in your urine. True, we all associate it with protein, and that's generally the case, but there are things we eat that may affect the properties of urine and how behaves in the water, or there may be cleaning products in the water, etc., noe of which mean the proteinuria isn't still there. Even mild proteinuria can cause amazing amounts of foam. Pierre

Guest guest
Half a cup of pearl barley, to 5 cups of filtered water, bring to the boil, & simmer for 15 minutes on low heat. Then add ( usually half a lemon) freshly squeezed juice. I do not include the soft grain barley in the final drink (I strain it and use the soft barley in soups also). I am very fortunate, in Australia, cause I have 4 different lemon tree varieties to choose from; Meyer, Lisbon, Eureka & another I can't remember it's name. Our garden is sub-tropical. The fruits are valuable in so many ways. And the blossoms have a heavenly scent!! And I know my lemons have no sprays, wax or other obscenities like G.M. (genetically modified). May god bless your lemon drinks always! Pete. " N Ingram, Ingram & Ingram " wrote: Hi , How do you make your barley water with lemon? Nadia Re: Anti-aging of the kidneys! Guest guest
Hi Elsie, As Pierre wrote, you really can't make any determination based on the amount of foam. The same holds true for the size of bubbles. The only accurate way is to do a urine test for protein.
Guest guest
, Sorry to hear about your migraine. In my case, I have been taking lemon juice, for prolonged periods, for years. No kidney stones yet!!! But then, sometimes I like to drink Cranberry Juice, which is renowned for preventing kidney stones also. Vitamin C is available in orange juice, but has a completely different effect on the body. And not as beneficial, as in many other forms. This is due to the alkalinity and acidity. I have seen what pharmaceutical sales are. I was trained. And I am more convinced, on working on, what I know my body feels good with. I get regular B.P. checks, and correct accordingly, with gentle Yoga and dietry adjustments. I will not take what has been put together in a lab, and has pages of listed side effects!!! Meditation is another proven method of illness correction and adjustment. We have a man in Australia, called Ian Gawler, who lost a leg to cancer, & was told by his Dr to prepare to die within 6 months , of Cancer. This was more than 20 years ago. He has written many books on surviving cancer, and meditation. Prayer is also known to have remarkable benefits for the sick. I am not saying that any of these are a cure. But they are not harmful either. A claim that can not be made with pharmaceutical drugs. God Bless You, and help you with your suffering. Sincerely, Pete. jeffreyfarruk wrote: my wife a terminal and palliative care nurse informs me that large doses of vitamin C are used to treat kidney patients who are just about to peg out, they don't know why it works but it gives the kidneys a last gasp. Guest guest
I wonder if there are other people who have the same problem as me. When I was down living in London, I had a wonderful consultant who was hightly experienced and I saw him at the clinic every 4-6 months unless anythign was wrong and all I needed to do was phone his secretary up and then I would get an appointment at the clinic for the following week. Since I moved to Yorkshire, I saw the consultant for the first two times now I see a one of his minions and its a different doctor everytime. The trouble is I seem to know more than they do and they admit that they are not very experience in IgA so I wonder why they are doing a clinic in it? I visited my GP last week because I have been having problems with fulid retention, my legs are swelling up even though I have been put on frusemide every two days. but its not taking it away. He said it wasn't a " GP issue " so I am stuck for 4 months till I see the neph " doctor " again or beggin for a possible earlier appointment - don't you feel that you are up agains a brick wall some times. It think, particularly in the UK , its a postcode lottery as to what kind of medical treatment you get!!

Guest guest
That does not seem good to wait for four months if you are retaining that much fluid. Is there any chance you can call and be seen earlier on an urgent basis? I hope so.
Guest guest
I had an allergic reaction to the fish oil supplements. So I include plenty of cold water fish in my diet, such as Salmon, Sardines & Mackeral. The Mayo clinic in the U.S., and other studies, have proven the protective value of fish oil (from cold water fish) on both the heart and the kidneys. The essential fatty acids have many other benefits also. On your other message-------I have had the same frustrations also. Pete. JeaniePC@... wrote: Is there anybody on fish oil in the UK? Guest guest
---Hi Jeanie I am not from UK, just Poland, but I am on fish oil for 12 months. I don't see any problem with taking the pills, no side effects at all. It works for me I guess...and one benefit which I can notice ...good for the general condition of the skin...It's worth trying! I am sorry that you have such problems to see your doc. is right - you shouldn't wait 4 months if you have problems with swellings now. Guest guest
Thanks, Pete, I am also blessed down here in Southwest Florida. We have lemons and limes and grapefruit - all without pesticides. All the best to you! P.S. I have been making a drink with rice milk, lecithin, brewer's yeast and safflower oil per Adelle ' book " Let's Get Well. " She has a whole chapter on kidney diseases. Guest guest
Wow, thanks Nadia. I'm not real big on restricting my son's diet (I figure he'll get to that point by himself regardless) other than salt and lowish protein... However, I was unaware about Adelle covered it.
