Crystal,

When my oldest was little, he came down with croup..... which is characterized

by a barking cough like that. A registered nurse told me about a natural remedy

that she learned from her father, who was a physician....... and it's totally

SCD legal. You mix about a quarter teaspoon of ground ginger (the powdered kind

you use in baking) into about 2 or 3 tablespoons of honey....... then give

this mixture by spoon...... about a teaspoon is enough....... several times a

day while he still has the cough. Steam helps, too........ I took my son in my

arms and sat on the edge of the bathtub with the shower curtain closed around us

and turned on the hot water, plugged the drain and just sat there breathing in

the steam. Naturally, you have to totally protect him from getting near the hot

water so he won't be burned...... so don't put him IN the tub. :) The steam

works really fast on croup. It's also helpful to bundle the kid up and take

him outside if the weather is really cold...... something about breathing the

very cold air (for just a short time....and well bundled up in blankets) helps.

Crystal,

A barking cough is often croup.

But you should really take him to a doctor to find out.

RSV is probably still going around this time of year too.
