Guest guest
Well we are 1/2 way through day 2 of a legal diet. We were unable to successfully implement the intro diet. Jon will not eat most of the intro foods. Since he does not have a problem with diarehha (sp?), I have decided to try to just do legal foods and maybe at a later date when his diet has opened up a little, I can try the intro again. I am going to try the homemade yogurt later this week. I should get my goat milk tomorrow, so maybe by Friday I can try it with him. So over the last week or so I've been eliminating illegals. I have a couple of questions. The absolute worst has been cutting out sugar. It seems like EVERYTHING he used to eat had sugar in it. My son is not eating very much. He is whining for his old sugary carb-loaded foods (which I expected). He is also complaining of a stomache ache. He doesn't always recognize hunger, so he might be hungry. Or perhaps it is die off. Likely a combination of both?? He is also very lethargic. He is just laying around saying " I'm SO tired! " Is this a normal response to the diet? I changed my eating lifestyle this past June to an Atkins way of Life. I remember the first couple of days were VERY hard for me. I was emotional and moody. Since SCD is similar to Atkins, I suspect he is feeling the same way. Boy I am hoping that it will get better tomorrow. I keep hearing people say that their children are eating so much. Jon is eating some of a very limited selection of food, but refusing most of the new foods we are trying. He won't try the legal juices. He is only drinking water...which is not necessarily a BAD thing, but I would like to get the CARBS and calories from the legal juices in him. He is pretty slim. I am worried that he will go into ketosis. I have kept him home from school today. One because I am afraid he might get ahold of some sugar and two because of his tummyache. I've ordered some supplement samples from Kirkman's. I am going to try EFA, Phenol-assist, and the EnzymeComplete. I plan on giving these one at a time, starting with small doeses and working up to the recommended amounts. Here's my questions: Can you buy ground fresh chicken for the chicken recipes? Can you use baby food squash for the recipes. Are there any legal hot dogs? What are your best recommendations, tips for getting children to try new foods? Any comments and/or encouragement is welcome. TIA Jodi Cilley 5.5, ASD
