When I came out of hospital, Dad cooked Dave and the kids a chicken curry

and I was sulking in the bedrom feeling very deprived, so Mum blended the

chicken curry into a thin paste and I spooned it in. About 5 teaspoons was

enough to put the smile back on my face.

I am still suffering badly with reflux so I am back to the doctor to have

the fill taken out. Nothing works. Mylanta and Zantac reduce the amount

of acid but I am still vomiting up spearmint flavoured sick several times

a night and it is playing havoc with my sleep. Whether I eat early or late

or a little or a lot makes no difference. I cannot stand it any longer.

Hally, I cannot make it to dinner tonight. I have been tossing up whether

to go to the Bandsters or to the pre-primary Mums gig and have decided that

since I saw you guys recently and the chances are we will get together

again sometime, I thought I would go to the Mum's do. Silly thing is, I

also had yet another invitation for tonight. This time of year is insane

for invitations. We are quite often doubling and tripling up or doing

three dos in one day on the week-end.

Then nothing for another 11 months.

TRACY!!!! Sorry I got your name wrong! I knew it started with a " T " tho! (I'm

blonde remember! LOL!)

So, you're happy with your tummy tuck??? I LOVE mine! we'll have to compare

scars next time! Who did your surgery? unfortunately my plastic surgeon died,

which was quite inconvenient of him as i hadn't finished all that I wanted done

(joking!! I was actually quite upset he had died as I really liked him and he

did the BEST work).

Anyway, rest alot, it's quite painful on the abdominal muscles isn't it? where

they tighten them up? I found my wound quite painless (and it's still quite

numb), so that was OK.

see you next time we go out on the town!

I saw you at the last dinner, Tracey and before that when you were about 90

kilos and I am amazed. You looked just so different. A true testament to

the fact that the band really works when you put the effort into it.

I was at another dinner last night and everyone commented on my weight loss

(again) and they didn't know I had the band and I felt like if I told them

they would say " oh! so you didn't really do it yourself " so I kept my

mouth shut.

congrats on the excellent progress. I was wondering if you could tell

me how long it took to drop the 66.5 kgs. We were similar starting

wts (I was 135), and I have had my band in just on a year now, and I

seem to be fairly " stuck " on the half way mark. My goal is 70 kgs, so

thats still 30 to go. Like I've said in previous posts I really

thought after 12 months it would be a done deal, it's been such a

shock to find that it's still such a long way to go. I think I am

probably eating too much ( at times), and need to get motivated

again, maybe its halfway burn out. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi Cath,

I have had the band for 3 years (8th Dec '97), start weight was 175 kgs, I

lost 50 kgs in the first year, and I think 25 kgs in the 2nd year, making it

75 kg loss, and I have now lost 92 kgs, so this last year I lost about 17

kgs or so.....not totally sure about this, but it's a rough estimate......I

now weigh 83 kgs, but for the last 5 months I've been maintaining my weight,

so I haven't lost or gained. I'm happy with this as I only really want to

lose another 10 - 15 kgs....and I'm not in any rush to do so. I had to have

a new band placed about a month ago, due to slippage, and in the new year I

will probably have .5 ml put in, but not over Christmas....I'm off on

holiday!! :0) Hope this helps.

I'd have to snot them one!!!

Next time we all meet up - i would love to have a look - i am still humming

and harring over a tummy tuck - i would need a little bit of liposuction

first and then the tummy tuck - i just cannot seem to budge the fat tummy.

I have made a decision to go back to Tony and have a fill at the end of jan

or there abouts - i am going to get down to 50 kilos - so i have 5 to

loose. if at 50 kilos i still have this rounded fat tummy well then i think

it might be the lipo and the tummy tuck. In reality the 5 kilos can only

really come of my tummy as i really do not have excess fat anywhere else.

dont know if you read my gym assessment email - where I had a computerised

fat test and it tested my fat and muscle weight etc - i only had 9 kilos

of body fat - so if i could just loose from the tummy i would be so happy

anyway take care

Hally,

The stuff around your tummy is probably just skin. I doubt very much you

would get liposuction at all. When I had my tummy tuck, Fiona Wood only

used the knife, not the vacuum cleaner as she told me I only had skin to

cut off, all 5 1/2 kilos of it. No amount of diet and exercise will get

rid of that skin, only a knife will. My personal suggestion is, seeing as

you look bloody fantastic is go for the tummy tuck. It will tighten up

EVERYTHING.

Hi Geri

That is just totally amazing. I think I probably need to get back on

the bandwagon so to speak. I'm not unhappy with my progress, but I

may be eating too much still. Time for a chat with the Doc I guess

Cath,

I thought that too. I had no idea it would take me so long to loose the weight.

I definately did not have very much restriction until I had the second band put in. I think my first band was placed too low initially, and that combined with early slippage not detected made for progressively slow weightloss with a lot of willpower.

My progress was first banded 16/11/98 - in the first 6 mths I lost 20 kgs then 10 kgs in the next 6 mths to Nov 99 (30 kgs in the first year). Then I lost another 8 kg to the 31/7 when I had the second band put on. Since 31/7 to now (4.5 mths) I have dropped another 10 kg. I started at 136 kg and am now 88.2kg. My first goal (2/3 excess) was

92 kg. I am now on target to my next goal of 80 kg. Hope this helps.

Hey Geri,

Well done !! You must be so proud of yourself. Your story is fantastic.

I thought my progress of 48 kg was ok but losing 92 kg. Wow :-))

And maintaining for 5 mths is great stuff. Enjoy your holidays.

You deserve them.

Hi Cath,I have had the band for 3 years (8th Dec '97), start weight was 175 kgs, Ilost 50 kgs in the first year, and I think 25 kgs in the 2nd year, making it75 kg loss, and I have now lost 92 kgs, so this last year I lost about 17kgs or so.....not totally sure about this, but it's a rough estimate......Inow weigh 83 kgs, but for the last 5 months I've been maintaining my weight,so I haven't lost or gained. I'm happy with this as I only really want tolose another 10 - 15 kgs....and I'm not in any rush to do so. I had to havea new band placed about a month ago, due to slippage, and in the new year Iwill probably have .5 ml put in, but not over Christmas....I'm off onholiday!! :0) Hope this helps.Geriand need to get motivated> again, maybe its halfway burn out. Has this happened to anyone else?> Cheers Cath Mac.-------------------------- eGroups Sponsor -------------------------~-~>eLertsIt's Easy. It's Fun. Thanks Gail

You may have just read my previous post just now. I guess the whole

thing has been alot different to what I was expecting. I feel alittle

encouraged after reading your post (gee what a mood swing). Everyone

has been very helpful tonite. The main thing is that I had best go

back to the Dr, as I haven't been since may, and see what he thinks.

Thanks Cath Mac.

Thanks Gail!!

I am very proud of myself :0)

It hasn't always been easy, but well worth every second!!

And 48 kgs is a wonderful achievment to....do you want to lose much more?? I needed to lose a lot more than most people, but it's the best thing I've ever done without a doubt!! And I will enjoy my holiday for sure....I've made a very special friend (female...hehehe), and I'm going to NZ to finally meet her after chatting and talking on the phone for almost a year.....VERY exciting!!!

cheers,

Geri :0)

Re: Re: Worst thing so far !!!

Hey Geri,

Well done !! You must be so proud of yourself. Your story is fantastic.

I thought my progress of 48 kg was ok but losing 92 kg. Wow :-))

And maintaining for 5 mths is great stuff. Enjoy your holidays.

You deserve them.

kind regards

Gail (Stormy)
