Guest guest
Diane, G0283 is a Medicare's HCPCS II code (Healthcare's Common Procedure Coding System). It is 1 of 3 G codes that " Medicare " created to further clarify what type of unattended electrical stimulation is being performed by the physician/clinician. The other two are G codes which describe unattended electrical stimulation for wound care purposes. 97014 remains a valid AMA CPT 97000 code to describe electrical stimulation (unattended) and is still a recognized descriptor of the service for many payers. Medicare as with any payer have to right to use or not use the AMA CPT descriptors and may create there own descriptors for reporting purposes. However, Medicare generally recognizes and accepts most of AMA's CPT codes as a collaborative effort of the healthcare industry. Because many payers follow Medicare methodology it is not uncommon for other payers i.e. " MA provider manual " to request the same reporting. You need to contact each individual payer to guide you in how they want the service reported. Hope this helps! Mulvey CPT Code GO283 Did the cpt code GO283 replace cpt code 97014?
