Well maybe I was hasty to say all went well. My eyes are currently

over corrected to +1.25 in each eye from -2.5 and -2.25 before. So my

poor eyes have gone from short to long sighted.

All going well this should regress back to close to 0 but this will

take time and it's hard going from perfect sight (with glasses) to my

current vision. Worst case is that I will need to have a enhancement

done in a few months.

Gotta say I think the band was better value so far and I'll reserve my

thoughts on Lasik until my eyes are better when I'm sure I'll be glad

I did this.

Anyhow will keep everyone posted, I'm off to bed early now to rest my

eyes and their overworked muscles.

Regards

*Sigh*

Wish I could! Sadly, wine is on my list of no-no's now... irritates the

oesophagus really badly. Guess I'll just have to have an extra slice of

J's cake to compensate (it's a tough life)!

Esther,

Stable weight....now up to 3.5 ml....it has finally kicked in....today i have had 1/2 sandwhich around 10.30am and the other half 1pm....so im pleased as i was starting to get nervous that it wouldnt work.....i have also joined the chuck club....saturday night...(not exactly sober at the time)...and i go for this chicken burger thing...and take two quick bites...as i always have...and it was back up in about 10 secs flat....lmao (laugh my ass off)....i was actually delighted (sorry regular chuckers) that the band had began to do what i was promised it would....it was the most bizarr feeling....not like normal chuck...it was just automatic...and then i felt great....i'm sure the other ppl dining at the casino thought it was due to the alcohol intoxication....i havent had another episoid since....i feel a bit of pain eating doughy stuff like bread....but it seems to pass within 20-30 secs....ill see how i go this week before i decide when to go!

back for another fill....im thinking ill be at least a 3.8ml girl....i just need a permanent muzzel over my mouth...no doubt id find a way to eat food through it though....

oh yeah...nearly forgot what the purpose of this email was.....when i saw at 6.30pm...he made comment that he had seen all his " GOOD " patients in the morning....

See you all on the 26th

Subject: Hi all.

My Groups | ozband Main Page | Start a new group!

First of all: The Melbourne Meeting. The general consensus is the 26th at

the school, with Randall. So I will bite the bullet and confirm he meeting

is on the 26th. I don't think it matters that our next meeting will only be

3 weeks away. So see you then Randall.

Gerri - Welcome. I am amazed at your weight loss. Good for you. I am sure

you will get a lot out of this list. I think I may be one of a few that

actually knows what you meant by your Oma. For those that don't know, and

this is a bit of trivia, it is the dutch word for grandmother.

I had my appointment with Dixon on Friday and I can tell you it was

quite a social gathering. I think at one stage there was about 6 of us

swapping stories and laughing. I hope we didn't distract the other patients

too much. The woman Aldo spoke of is Colleen and she is going to phone me

to find out about the meetings. Halkett was really pleased that we

have so much fun with others in the same position. However, by the time Sue

got to see I believe he was in quite a bad mood as most of us had

put on. Lucky I didn't see him. On the down side of my appointment - I

have put on 6 kgs in the past few months. On the up side I finally have had

a fill and now have 2.6 in the band. The highest I have ever got to with my

2nd band is 2.8. I had no problems over the weekend and even managed to eat

red meat straight after I got home from the doctors. Usually I am totally

blocked for about 2 days after a fill. This is a really really good sign.

Thus far - no spasms. I am quietly confident I am healed (after all it is

12 months tomorrow since my second surgery) and can get on with the task at

hand - losing more weight. I am on a high.

- I had to dash off before you came out. How did you go?

Regards to all.

Esther.

Esther--

You poor thing!! That experience sounds like the absolute pits! What is

Dexsal? I am really glad it helped, but I have no clue as to what it is.

What a day at the Market, eh? Next time maybe take your own band-friendly

food, just in case.

I am glad you survived that ordeal without having to take the fluid out, but

in hindsight, maybe that would have been easier. I hope you have suffered

no after effects!

Thanks for sharing Esther's Adventure with the Scones! *smile*

Warm Regards, of the Cakes

I feel for you, i had an experience like that was i was first banded. i

knew that food was restricted but my surgeon didnt tell me about liquids.

I went out for an hours brisk walk - It was summer time and very hot, came

home and was thirsty, so I downed the majority of a 500ml bottle of spring

water in one hit and then the pain was incredible - i had to roll around on

the living room floor, this was the worst pain i have ever had with the

band and it was terrible, i was crying and screaming (i thought it was a

heart attack) I did not even associate it with the band at first (because

i just had water). i was calling my husband but he could not hear me and i

was just rolling around for at least 1/2 an hour. I eventuallly threw the

whole lot up - Needless to say i havve never gulped any drink ever again!!!

Hi , Dexsal is similar to Eno - an effervescent drink which supposedly

helps with indigestion, heartburn or nausea, handy stuff to have in the

cupboard. Dixon told me to keep some on me at all times to help with

pushing the food through to the stomach - sort of replaces the Prepulsid. I

am just glad that I waited until I got home to eat the " goodies " .

Yes, for me it was 3.2 mls. It took me 18 months to get this right.

I crack up when i think of it now - but blimey at the time it was pure hell

and I really thought I was having a heart attack. I am seeing Tony on

wednesday, will probably get a little more out of the band, i want to

stablise for the next month and i dont want to vomit anymore. I am trying

to find the happy medium where i can eat a little and not gain weight or if

i eat a little too much not vomit either.

I have 4.1 in at present so will probably get .1 taken out.

I would also like to be able to drink a bit more in one hit, i love gulping

water and would like to be able to do small gulps - if i gulp now it just

comes straight back up again.

Anybody out there trying to maintain and found the right amount of saline

in the port? How long did it take to work this out?

Just logged on and read your message. I am so pleased that you are finally

getting somewhere - having tests is a real start - I am keeping all my

hopes up that there is nothing major and only a minor issue and that it

will all be sorted out soon.

I wish you all the best - and my friend does as well.

take care
