Guest guest
>My doctor has given me a referral for Dr Fielding (who I have heard is very good). However, when I rang the surgery twice, I was a little put off by the lady who answered the phone (maybe she was having a couple of bad days). Dr Fielding is great, don't worry about being put off by ronni? as some others have made similar comments. You see the nurse first who talks all about the band and so on, if you still want to go ahead after that they can book a time but you have to see the dietician and psychologist before the operation. You meet Dr Fielding a few days before the op and at the same time you pay. Follow ups for me have all been with Dr Fielding, I've been back about 6 times since the op and have not been charged yet. >My question is; Can anyone give me some feedback on what fielding's group is like with follow-ups (I know he is a good surgeon but for me I can't afford to feel like I'm being fobbed off, it's an emotional thing)???? Does he give a general when you get a fill?? My first appointment is with his nurse, so are my follow ups with the nurse??? Answered above I think. I had my op by Dr Fielding and have no regrets at all. Any more questions ask away. Guest guest
, Thankyou very much, I have already made an appointment with the dietician as I hoping to organise to have the operation during my holidays in the beginning of April ( which Ronni said shouldn't be a problem if all goes ok)... Here is a couple of more questions, does he give a general when you get the fills (or doesn't it hurt)? When you see him for your follow ups does it feel like he is pushing you out the door because he is busy or will he make the time to talk to you if you needed it? ( I think I have been spoiled with my GP in that way, as no matter how busy he is he will always give me the time I need)... Also, Thankyou for the invite to join you when you meet on the 10th March. I'm actually working that day but I'm am trying to get it off, so hopefully I will be able to meet.. I only feel the needle if he misses (rare) and a little when he pulls it out. He's always got plenty of time to talk and you can also talk to the nurse as well if you like. > Also, Thankyou for the invite to join you when you meet on the 10th March. I'm not sure that I can make it, it's 50/50 at the moment as work is moving to Bond Uni that weekend. Will know more soon but I don't think we can make the deadline. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the list. Almost everyone who decides to go ahead with the surgery has the same fears and apprehensions that you are having but when all is said and done the majority of us are happy with the decision to go ahead. You will find a few of us have problems, but don't let this put you off - the weight loss far outweighs the problems. I for one would probably do it again (if necessary). Good luck with your decision.

I am just starting to investigate the possibility of >having the Lapband surgery. I have a great deal of reservations >(mainly scared stiff of dying on the table!!) I'm going for an I think that everyone had fears of dieing on the table and it was certainly something that I realise was possible but the benefits more then outweighed the risks. The chances of dieing on the table is so remote in this operation, I can't recall the exact figure but it's not worth worrying about. >Endoscopy this Thursday which is my first step to see if the >procedure is possible for me. I'm so sick of being overweight, I >curretnly weigh in at a hefty 107kgs (should be around 70kgs) and >words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated to help eliviate >my fears. You need to talk about it with your Doctor/Surgeon and see a Dietitian and Physiologist before you should decide it's for you. The band is not a magic way to lose weight as I'm sure you realise and it takes a lot of commitment. >I've been reading through you letters which I've found very helpfull!! >If anyone can help me with my decision(both good and bad experiences) >that would be great! I suggest taking a look back through the archives at egroups. There are plenty of posts from people who are doing really well with no problems but there are also posts from people who have had complications. You need to weigh up the two of these and decide if you still thinks it's a step that you want to take. I doubt that you'll find anyone here who regrets having the band even the ones who have had complications but the decision to have one can only be made by yourself but you need to be committed to make some changes to your life and work with the band. Guest guest
, Yes, I agree with you that I am the only one to make this descision. I already have.....today I went for my Endoscopy and all went well. Dr will be performing my surgery around Xmas time, and I CAN'T WAIT!!! Thankyou for the words of encouragement, I realise it's going to take a LOT of committment on my behalf, and I'm sure there will be days that I wish I'd never done it. But, at the end of the day, just slipping into a size 12 or 14 pair of jeans will make it all worth while! Talk to you soon,

Guest guest
I am also new and have the same questions someone else posted. I have posted these questions on one other site - but to be honost I am searching everywhere. I had my tubes cauterized also after my fourth child in December of 1998. Can someone please tell me what the outlook is on a TR. My husbands agrees and we are ready. I actually have been given the name of Dr. Curlin from my OB/GYN (who by the way is incredible). Tell me what to expect - good or bad -I'm ready. Tabitha
