Guest guest
Thanks Sally for your comments, it correlates exactly with the way I am these days. It bugs me after the first band to know that I can eat just about anything the second time around and you are right the fills are heaps more than before. That was why I was worried about what would happen with Grace if she cannot have fills. Gail, I have stopped with the Xenical just for a few weeks while I was doing the fluid thing but have decided to get another packet and start again. The weight loss has slowed again and I figure anything has to help. I know those little blue babies were doing some good. A friend of mine is taking them and she says the weight loss is slow but happens. What they also do is make you make better food choices because an excessively fatty meal is extremely obvious the next day!! (I will not explain). Well after writing to just about every magazine in the country asking them to advertise the Web Site and OzBands I have had extremely disappointing results. I have just finished the data doc for my mail merge to docs but haven't figured out yet what to say to them. I think I should figure out a way of printing contact cards or something to send with the letter. Better run, - Brisbane 1st Band in March '96 Start: 126kg Got to: 69 2nd Band in March '99 Start: 110kg Now:
Guest guest
HI , Just been reading about your Zenical again - Are they a mild laxative or not? I've been trying to control my constipation of the last six months by doing what Trudy suggested ie. increased fibre in the diet (bran in the porridge, as I can't handle solids), Metamucil daily and epsom salts when can ( ie. only game to take it over the weekends as can't afford to be caught short when on the road during work - I travel between 600 and 800 kms a week). But it's not very regular going only at the weekends, and it's beginning to worry me. I had never had constipation in my life until now. Is Zenical something you can take daily and not worry too much about diarrhoea? And do you have to get a prescription for it or can you buy it across the counter at the chemists? I don't want to become dependant on any medication but this is driving me nuts and I'm sure is affecting my lack of weight loss over the past eight weeks or so. On the issue of disseminating the website info to the medicos - perhaps referring to the questions/issues their lapband patients must have raised from time to time, namely support, wanting other contacts with similar concerns - They must have had patients ask if they knew of any others who were experiencing similar changes, problems (medical, emotional, social - whatever). I know that is the way I'm jumping straight in to discuss it with my doctor next week - because I was one who asked such a question of him; and that is the way I plan to broach the subject with him. " Hey Dr. do you remember when I asked you ................... and you could not tell me of any other women who had or were experiencing the same thing? Well, guess what, I've discovered this absolutely fantastic network of Aussie lapbanders to talk these things over with. Maybe you might like this contact for any others who ask you for the same kind of advice. " Maybe you have hit upon the trick, - going to your doctor for a small refill every three weeks or so. If I don't start shifting some weight soon, I might try that too. Best of luck - Please advise, re Zenical - Thanks Dianne ---------- > > To: Bandsters at eGroups (E-mail) <ozbandegroups> > Subject: 2nd Bands Continued > Date: Thursday, 17 August 2000 8:19 > > Thanks Sally for your comments, it correlates exactly with the way I am > these days. Guest guest
Dianne As far as I know Zenical is not primarily a laxative. And yes I believe you need a prescription for the drug. Is this the same drug that helps with weight loss? Then the prime objective is to rid the body of fat. If you don't follow a low fat diet then I believe you leave yourself open to diarrhoea and anal leakage. I also have had problems with constipation for the first time in my life. I eat well even with the band but things have definitely changed. I tend to take some Senokot when I feel too uncomfortable and try to plan it for a day when I am not too busy the next day. I have to say that my system is slowly readjusting and am beginning to become more regular without the use of laxatives. I have had the band for 18 months now.
