First change: I will be switching from a scooter to a new Jazzy 1115. My new chair actually arrived a week or so ago, but the seat was too wide to get through home doorways. It was also too heavy and cumbersome to lift off the base. The original order was a manual reclining (180 degree) seat, with swing away controls, in 20 in wide seat. My "butt" measurement is right between the criteria for the standard 18 inch wide seat and the 20 inch wide so I could go either way. We thought going up in size would be more comfortable, but never dreamed it would make the actual total width of the whole seat come to 28 inches, arm rest to arm rest. So we reordered seat options and are expecting the new seat this week. My husband and I choose the Jazzy 1115 chair, because it comes apart into smaller pieces if we are ever in a rental car situation or I choose to ride with a friend versus our accessible van. Having just returned home from Denver via United airlines, I am very happy we made the choices we did in chair model, as security has to check chairs, right down to the inside of the battery covers. The new seat is a manual reclining (115 degrees which I didn't know existed as an option ) seat so that I can easily change my position out of upright as I become too tired and back again. I originally chose the swing away controls, but they added a lot of weight to the seat making it hard to lift off the base. I can just as easily lift the arm as I approach a table if I chose to stay in the chair. Also the swing away controls cannot be removed from the chair seat when breaking down the chair for transport, and the non swing away can be easily removed. The most exciting part of ordering the chair, was choosing the color! I decided the evergreen with black and gray seating is pretty classy! I have already tried the chair a few times. The ease of use and comfort, exceeds my apprehension of moving to a device that "says that I need more help". Alice looks great in her new Jazzy. Can I post your "modeling" pictures Alice?? I know I had a lot of fun picking out the color of my manual chair. It made the whole process of using the chair easier, because I had a say in it and I was able to say what it would end up looking like, as I would be the one using it! I am anxious to see it as I am in the exploration phase for replacement of my scooter (not for another couple of years) and have considered the Jazzy.
