Guest guest
This should be no different from those who travel to Florida and rent a car. Surely denying those people with placards to use them while in-state would be the height of unfriendliness and discrimination. I have carried my placard to many different states to use on other vehicles and never had any problem. Lucy Buckley PT Handicapped Parking stickers Hi All, Wondering if any Florida colleagues can answer a question for me: I have a patient from Connecticut who will be wintering in Florida. She plans to have a daughter from California (with a lupus dx) visiting there for two weeks. The mom will have her own vehicle (CT plates) there and is not disabled. The daughter would like to bring her own CA hang tag for handicapped parking. Does anyone know if Florida honor an out-of-state handicap parking hang tag on a mirror? At first I thought this was pretty simple, but then realized the car and tag are from two separate states. I suggested contacting Florida DMV, but wasn't sure if anyone might know what division/office to contact. They will be staying in Largo, Flda. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, Reisa - Since I'm presently rehabbing after my second THA in two years, I have " Evidence Based " Florida Gulf Coast experience! In Florida, the handicapped tag applies to the patient, not to the car. So, if I strayed off to the East Coast of Florida and rode in someone else's car, I'd bring my own tag (plus the registration-sized card which accompanies it) and that car would be legal if I were in it. Hope that helps! Dick Hillyer, PT Dr. W. Guest guest
In Florida they honor Handicapped Parking permits from other states. Florida regulations require a hang tag be used only when the person who it is issued to is in the car (and that person also carries the wallet identification for the permit.) At some high security events, venues in Florida may also require a receipt (showing payment at the time the permit is issued). J.
