Want some pesto!!! My Neuro's usually have wanted to see me every 3-4 months, just like my Gp's... Hugs toots... Akiba -- back from neuro... Mornin' group! I was happy to have like the first appt. of the morning with my neuro. Don't know why, but I feel he's 'fresh' in the am! Nothing really new. He did note what I've noticed, some loss of strength in the upper right. He was perplexed about my right foot; told him I'm waiting on the rest of the x-rays, and all I know so far is heel spur. I really, really like my dr. he is very sweet. I made him some homemade pesto--with basil I'm growing in pots outside. I picked it fresh this am--we had some big storms, and the rain really grew loads of fresh, shiny leaves. I put pine nuts, fresh garlic, extra virgin olive oil, parmesean cheese and the basil in the blender and just blended it til smooth. I put it in a container for him; put it in a zip lock and in a brown bag. When I was leaving, I asked him if he likes pesto, and then when he said yes, handed him the bag. He gave me a nice smile. I had also made his secretaries banana walnut muffins--they were surprised. He gave me new prescriptions for Provigil and zanaflex (tizanidine). He also jotted down some names of psychiatrists; I think he knows my depression is continuing. We didn't speak about it though. He doesn't want me to increase my tegretol until I get a bloodlevel drawn first. I handed him a list of improvements I noted, and listed a bunch of things that are 'new'. Question for you all: how often do your neuros want to see you? After this visit, Dr. Decker said, ok, I'll see you in 4 months. Funny thing was, I had last seen him in April, and that time he wanted to see me in 2 months. Another time, it was, 7 months. Also, how often does your neuro order MRI's? Just curious. Ok, this is boring, and babbling and surely long enough a post! lol! love you all ,kate

Akiba and Kate! I usually bring coffee to my new doctors! Except for those who

are Chinese; I bring organic tea, white, green or some other appropriate mixture!

So far, they have all responded to this. Am presently picking out the tea for my

NEW neuro-guy, who is Chinese, 2nd generation! This new guy is terrific and

actually understands that I have a medical condition that makes the last "great,

new" anti-Partial-Complex seizure medication totally WRONG and dangerous

for me. He plans to keep me on the medication I have successfully been on

since age two years! He even KNOWS a lot about MS. I see him again on

the 11th of July, by which time he will have my new MRI back! I wish I could

just clone him for each of you!

Love,

n

Kate,

So far, I've seen my neuro about every 3 mos, unless I freak out and call him :). He told me that he likes to do MRIs about once a year. Question: I cannot stand theMRIs. maybe I have claustrophobia, but everytime I freak out and end up taking a break a couple times through it all because I get so upset I cry. I've asked the doc to give me something to knock me out, last time he gave me a sedative, but it didn't work. Can they completely knock me out to do anMRI? Thanks, Andi

Hi Kate~

What a nice thing to do for your dr. and the staff. I could just see my husband, if I were to ever do something like that. He trusts no one. He'd say how inappropriate that would be, and now the dr . is going to think he can become "too familiar" with me. LOL....I only wish I was all that! Definately would have a "shadow" following me to every exam.

All the neuros I've gone to have set my appts. for every 3-4 months. I have to admit, I'm not always faithful with keeping my appts. Usually, by the time they come around, I'm low on funds. In fact, I think I still owe my dr. for the last visit. :(

Gee, I wonder what made him think your depression was continuing? (wink) We may sometimes think that we aren't showing signs. But, dr's are trained to see the way we carry ourselves, conduct ourselves, and by the sound of our voices. We may not even notice those thing ourselves. But, I'm glad he was able to detect it in you. I know what a trying time you've been having.

God bless and keep you....

Val

Sorry kate I thought he was knew. It's good that you have that type of relationship with your neuro. Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain too. The thing with neuropathy (as I am sure you know) medications like vicodin does not work. That's why I am on Lyrica. I do have that too arg! :( Anyway, at least you have a cute doctor to look at (wink). It shows a good man when he talks to his wife that way. Wish I had it that good . No, my husband is a good man but he has to put up with a lot and it gets to him and when it does he doesn't handle it so well. If I was listening to his conversation it would have probably put me in tears, the good ones. I hope you feel better soon. Have you talked to your doctor about a neuropathy medication like Lyrica (it's new)? I

am so sorry you have to wait until Monday. That sucks when you are in such pain like you are. I hate to say this but if you can't get in till Monday and you are in so much pain you can't take it anymore, go to the hospital. I didn't want to but my husband insisted I go before the weekend bcs I wasn't getting any better and we have all 5 kids this weekend and week. They keep us busy and it would have been exhausting to him if I would have waited until the weekend. Feel better girl! Hugs and Best Wishes :)Kate Rothschild wrote: Re: back from neuro... Sorry you had to go to the hosp.Glad you got some good response, and meds. I am in a massive amount of pain from my trigeminal neuralgia--it is pretty bad. I want to increase my tegretol, but my neuro said no, not until I get the blood level drawn...I have a call into the surgeon who did the Gamma Knife. He won't be in til Monday. We'll be on vacation. I'm sure Kathi and Sharon can relate all too well with this--I have the knife stabbing in the region I and II .I am in such pain. Funny you should ask if he's married. He is very cute, I think but is married, and as a matter of fact, his wife, called during my exam, and the sec'y interupped him, and he said, tell her I'll call her--apparently the wife insisted on

speaking to him right then and there. He looked embarrassed--I said, don't worry, its ok, I don't mind..He closed the door behind him, and I was surprised he put her on speaker phone--he tried turning down the volume, but I could still hear her-- i really, truly wasn't trying to eavesdrop--but it was some conflict at home with one of their 2 boys--she was like freaking out. He stayed real calm, cool, and sweet, and tried to 'talk her down', and said, ok sweetheart..I love you sweetheart. **sigh**~it melted my heart~ wish MY hub would talk to me soft and sweet like that! Well, that'll never happen! again, glad to read you're home and beginning to feel abit better. love, kate Kate, Boy sounds like you were a busy bee lately. As far as the MRI goes, the norm to my knowledge is 6 months to 1 year unless you are having new and/or bad

symptoms. I am glad you like your neuro. Are you trying for browny points with the new doc? LMAO Just kidding and it doesn't hurt (wink, wink). Is he a good looking single man? Just wondering and I forgot if you were single so forgive me. I have a badddddddddddddddd memory problem especially with all the group members to remember arg! And the secretaries......suckin up? rotflmao It's a nice thing to do so please don't take it the wrong way, just playing with ya. Glad it was a good experience. We don't have many of those. I ended up in the hospital this morning bcs I couldn't take the pain anymore. I had a young doc and not bad looking, although, I am HAPPILY MARRIED! He told me to tell him what to give me and what works and he had no problem with giving me

what I thought I needed for the pain in the ER and also for after I get home. It was a long time in the ER bcs they were extremely busy but worth the wait I guess. He wanted to admit me for yet another mri and they couldn't do it until tomorrow morning so that meant keeping me for observation and also pain managment. He was worried about bleeding from the epidural bcs it was the worst one I ever had and I had so much pain from the time the needle went in. I promised that if my symptoms got worse or I had new symptoms that he told me to watch for that I would come in and be admitted and get an MRI. Right now I am not in that much pain after 2 sets of 1 mg Dilaudid. I wish they would have given me 1 dose of 2 mgs and sent me home after watching me for at least 1/2 hour, in which it's protocol but oh well. Right now I am at a pain level of 4 in which I went in at a 10 and I don't like the pain level scale at all but they never asked

me what the pain was on the scale until my last shot and only after I told the nurse that they never asked me and it was strange. The admissions people put me down as a 10 but they didn't ask me either. I just told them I was in extreme pain. The nurse was good for nothing. I seen the doctor before her and never seen her afterwards until I pulled the doctor over to ask for another shot bcs the pain was not tolerable. She had to come to me to give me the shots so I seen her twice in about 6 hours of being there. I was sent out to the hallway after the first shot bcs they were so busy but that was ok, I understand and I didn't need a room just to wait until the meds kicked in. I am glad I am home and not in so much pain now but hate that I had to go to the hospital to get what I needed. I really hate that. Anyway, on a lighter more happier note, again, glad you like

your neuro and it didn't hurt that you gave him what you did. He will remember you and won't give you any problems now LOL Have a great day! :) . Luvs & Hugs :)

Oh, I feel for you with any of that crappy TN. Mine is more electrical jolts recently.....I had it in bed last night, but it wasn't stabbing.....it was so scary though that I wouldn't move for fear of more shocking pain. I did go to sleep again and was happy to wake up without it continuing. I was not able to brush my teeth without pain though or take my pills. What a horrible disease, isn't it? Kathi

Hi Kate, I'm happy to hear that you appointment with the neuro was fine. Hope it goes like this forever. I go to my neuro every 6 months, actually I have 2 neuro's, I try to cross check them. Also, how often does your neuro order MRI's? Just curious. Ok, this is boring, and babbling and surely long enough a post! lol! love you all ,kate

~I have apparently missed, or more likely forgotten, why you are in so much pain and where the pain is?Please refresh my memory.hugs)Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Kate, Boy sounds like you were a busy bee lately. As far as the MRI goes, the norm to my knowledge is 6 months to 1 year unless you are having new and/or bad symptoms. And the secretaries. .....suckin up? rotflmao It's a nice thing to do so please don't take it the wrong way, just playing with ya. Glad it was a good experience. We don't have many of those. I ended up in the hospital this morning bcs I couldn't take

the pain

anymore. I had a young doc and not bad looking, although, I am HAPPILY MARRIED! He told me to tell him what to give me and what works and he had no problem with giving me what I thought I needed for the pain in the ER and also for after I get home. I wish they would have given me 1 dose of 2 mgs and sent me home after watching me for at least

1/2 hour, in which it's protocol but oh well. Right now I am at a pain level of 4 in which I went in at a 10 and I don't like the pain level scale at all but they never asked me what the pain was on the scale until my last shot and only after I told the nurse that they never asked me and it was strange. I am glad I am home and not in so much pain now but hate that I had to go to the

hospital to get what I needed. I really hate that. Anyway, on a lighter more happier note, again, glad you like your neuro and it didn't hurt that you gave him what you did. He will remember you and won't give you any problems now LOL Have a great day! :)Kate Rothschild <katelloydkidz@ optonline. net> wrote: Mornin' group! I was happy

He gave me new

prescriptions for Provigil and zanaflex (tizanidine) . He also jotted down some names of psychiatrists; I think he knows my depression is continuing. We didn't speak about it though. Peets--whatever their favourite variety is! I forgot to send some to my orthopedic surgeon

last winter holiday, and the poor man died in February--obviously all MY fault!

Love,

P.S. All my doctors like the SERIOUS kind of coffee, that is, CAFFEINATED!
