28 days is not really enough time to see if you are a responder or not. I think

we all hope for the same results Stan had with his son .His case was

exceptional. We did valtrex for 4 months we did not have any wows but no

negatives either I regret stopping it so soon, Some stay on valtrex for a year

or more , When we were on valtrex my son was also excreting metals so it may be

doing some good that you cannot see just yet. Good luck caroline..

Here's my question(s) - i undertand why anti-biotics cause yeast flare up -

kills off the good bacteria as well as the bad - and throws off the balance -

but what about anti-virals - kills some virus but why does it kick up yeast -

and 2. - how long does one stay on valtrex -

Viruses have a carbohydrate coating so when an anti viral kills the viruse the

yeast feed on this carbohydrate coating and increase in numbers(put simply!!)

Many stay on anti virals yeass . Visit Nids group al members are on anti virals

long term they rotae anti virals .we have now started this protocol

Antivirals cause yeast because it shifts the immune system from T1 to T2 (or vice versa, can't remember which at the moment). T1 controls yeast and T2 controls everything else (assuming that's the right order, again, can't remember! :) ) When you make the shift, you aren't producing enough yeast fighting cytokines to control it. In the archives I posted some studies explaining this if you want to search for them. They'll also tell which is which since I've forgotten. Not uncommon to have happen. I know of some that didn't see gains until day 60 so you aren't alone. Make sure you pull titers so you can monitor if there's actually progress. If you don't see anything changing, you can switch antivirals. Also be sure you are on a systemic antifungal if you aren't. This is a long term therapy so keep in mind that a trial should be at least 6 months on antivirals.
